Olive Garden is literally the best i've had... all you can eat salad which is awesome and the breadsticks are phenomenal. And you don't have to worry about undercooked pasta.

Carrabbas has authentic Tuscon cuisine without all the headache of flying to Italy.

Nah son, you need to go to the upscale Vics, La Volta. That's top notch.

I came here to post that

Maggiano's is delicious, but I've only been there once. I have yet to find a place that has actual Italian pizza (pesto or mustard or oil based, not sauced based) that's good other than... of all places, Mellow Mushroom, and that disappoints me.
Or maybe, there are other places, and I always just get calzones.

None in Raleigh, but Maggianos in Durham is world class. Its a small authentic place with a real family feel, definitely one of a kind.

Have you been there? I'm pretty sure its not a chain, I think the owner's family name is Maggiano.

It's a chain

Owned by the same people that own Chili's

It's good stuff, I like it. It's a chain. I have a gift card, and the card says, good at Chili's, South of the Border, Maccroni Grill, and Maggiano's Little Italy.

sad how such a big city doesn't really have any real italian restarants. all of the "italian" restaurants are Italian-american.

"Gravy" is up there. Locally-sourced and organic ingredients. Get the risotto cakes. They're one of the best things I've ever eaten.

I know that's a running joke in these threads but I don't know how that place stays in business. Went their on a drunken whim with friends and it was like puke on a sour pancake. Took forever and was basically inedible.
