the reason they word it that way is to entice you to click it. what happens next is it makes a post on your timeline that "soandso watched a link - ******" (because we need to make sure we inform our facebook friends of our video watching habits)

^this...especially when I'm browsing on my phone. I don't want to watch the video of the kid screaming or singing. The crap comes on automatically & before I can swipe down again it's full force though my speaker as everyone turns & stares. I'm just started to turn my volume down before I open facebook now

i, too, hate that fb has been auto-playing videos my friends post. So many people posting videos these days. The idea is not that bad...if people wouldn't post videos of every little thing that happens in their life every single day

Also, getting pretty tired of the "you won't believe what so-and-so did" / "this person had X happen to them - you won't believe what happened next!" / "this little boy's story is guaranteed to make you cry" / "you won't believe what the government is hiding from you" etc. etc. videos everyone posts these days. Once again, a small % are worth watching and the rest are chain-email-worthy or just seem/are made up.

nope. all videos posted in the newsfeed autoplay now. I get closer and closer to closing down my facebook account every day. (I just like being able to stay in touch with folks easily.)

I can't believe they don't put in an option to disable that crap... and then make sure the default setting is OFF.

From what I understand people with phones can disable it (though there are mixed reports as to whether the settings actually take effect) due to data caps but there's no option for the PC.

Also, the auto play videos always come up muted by default for me. Still, this needs to die. Facebook slowly becoming myspace.
