We went the easy route this Christmas since my husband did most of the shopping. Gift cards for all except Grandma and Granny. Grandma got power outage flashlights and Granny got the Sotty McCreary Christmas CD.

Question, is giving a "gift" of a donation to a charity in somebodies name nice or douchey?

A bunch of kindle books, these chocolate covered cherries he loves, and a Queen album for my dad.

Some instant hot water thing, a movie, a book, Bananagrams game for my mom.

Walking dead blu-ray for my sister in law.

New motorcycle brake/clutch levers for my brother.

Also got bro/sister in law a keurig.

Probably going to give my team leaders some gift cards tonight.

I think it's nice. If someone already has everything they need or tells you not to get them anything, then a donation in their name is an easy thing to do.

Got my wife a nice necklace and new high end cookware set for our kitchen (wanted something better for our induction stove) plus some other small stuff.

Got my parents a new camera. My wife pretty much did all the other shopping (i.e. for the kids and my nieces and nephews).

I gave my daughter this wooden block set: http://www.amazon.com/Discovery-Kids-Solid-Castle-Block/dp/B006Z8KFVU/ref=pd_sim_sbs_misc_4

She enjoys playing with it, but I have made a different castle every night after she has gone to bed (so she can wake up and smash it in the morning!)... I have had so much fun with them!

she is a year and a half. the stated age on this particular set was 4 years, but she does just fine with them. obviously she isn't building intricate structures, but she stacks pretty good towers (and then knocks them down!)
