Based off your last sentence, yes.
I'm still in one though I'm on the tail end I think. The entire omfuck this is not where I thought I'd be at this point in my life, why can't I be rich and traveling the world, already? And what the fuck do I really want to do with my life?? Life is so pointless.... Etc

it's basically a term used to describe adjusting to the real world after being in school life for so long, which is definitely a big change.
I think it became more popular after the economic downturn made the transition from student to successful working adult a little more lengthy and difficult. 1/6/2014 3:29:49 PM

The more the world advances and gets techno-fied, the young the age at which people are having fractional-life crises.
50 years from now, normal 15 year olds will be having a tenth-life crisis because a decent percentage of their friends have already become writers, pro athletes, recognized artists, scientists, inventors, next Gates/Jobs, etc. 1/6/2014 3:54:25 PM

I thought I was having a quarter life crisis a few years after college... turns out it never really ends.
Since then I have attended and dropped out of grad school, got a divorce, got my own apartment, then later a shared townhome with a roommate, lost my dog, got a cat, lost 60 pounds, gained 20 pounds back, etc., etc. And though I feel like a different person, I don't feel anymore "put together" than I did then, six years ago.
Figure out what is upsetting you at the moment, and determine if it's something that you can change, and if so, how are you going to change it? Also, quit focusing and comparing yourself to friends and family who may seem perfect according to social media, etc. It's only going to make you feel worse. They aren't perfect either, no matter what their Facebook posts say. Also, I'm not saying you compare yourself to other people. It was something that I used to do a lot that only hurt my own goal-meeting progress. ] 1/6/2014 4:09:25 PM

My quarter life crisis happened when I was 15. I told my parents I was wasting too much of my life with school and school related bullshit and that I would be dropping out as soon as I turned 16 and could legally do so. Somewhere between 15 and 16 my will was broken and I never dropped out to pursue more important things like skateboarding all day. Now I'm just another sap working for the man. ![](images/cry.gif)
I'm due for a mid-life crisis any day now. I can't fucking wait.

^^^^ wow, great post. I feel similar in ways except I'm gaining weight now that i'm near 30, and no divorce but a breakup that felt like one. I'm getting more used to the philosophy that my life is this one present moment that is constantly changing, instead of feeling like I'm passing through discreet increments of time. The way my perception of the passage of time has changed is scary. I'm hoping the acceleration has maxed out at this point.

Any time I'm feeling down I just get out and do something active. Go run, bike, ski, hike, kite surf whatever. I have found that no matter how shitty you're feeling leading an active life cures 99% of all problems in life. 1/6/2014 6:45:33 PM

I think I'm coming to the realization that I'm never going to have it ALL under control. It's like I'm juggling 8 balls, but I'm eventually going to drop 1 or 2 of them. If I have my finances under control, then my social life sucks. If I'm doing awesome at work, and I'm spending a lot of time with my friends then I've probably gained a few pounds.
It's been hard to accept, but I can't be perfect. And the sooner I learn to live with that, the better I can live my life. But that has just been my experience with the life crisis shit. 1/6/2014 10:01:24 PM

my body image is fine. it's my lack of ability to have any sort of normal relationship with anyone that is starting to bother me. it's not that I need a boyfriend, I just feel like its been a really long time and I must be doing something wrong
it doesn't help that over the holidays my family were giving me the whole "DO YOU HAVE A MAN YET ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED WE WANT BABIES NOW"

i got this almost verbatim each year after my divorce (and my sister being friends with my ex and seeing her get engaged within the month of officially being divorced), and then my sister got pregnant and it seemed to ramp up their need/want to inquire about this. it got to the point my family told me that if i waited much longer i wouldn't be able to land a girl that could still have children at the rate i was going. 1/7/2014 8:44:00 AM

i'm not in a hurry to have children, but part of me does worry that with older parents, and my single life, that they nor my future children will be able to enjoy each other the way grandparents and grandchildren should.
but then again i was only close to one grandparent and lost another when i was very young so I never had that connection to them that a lot of people do. and i'm thankful that my brother has two young children that my parents are able to spend a lot of time with and watch grow. 1/7/2014 10:07:30 AM
