I have not noticed any odd habits pre-poo, but I will keep an eye out when they do weird things and see if I notice a correlation.

One of ours doesn't seem to understand the covering up part of it. So he will go to the bathroom, then stand there and paw at the inside of the litter box for quite a while, like at least 5 minutes.

I had one that would not cover it, but instead spent forever basically building a monument to it so when I went to scoop it would be on a little pedestal for me to admire.

I knew a cat that would do this after pooping. It would tear out of the litter box and run around the house all crazy-like, and very low to the ground. It would also meow while pooping.

^^ My cat does these two, he also digs like madman for like 5 minutes pre-poo, like hes trying to dig through the bottom of the box. Then he tries to bury it by scratching the outside of the box, not getting a single speck of litter on the turd. Then he takes off like a madman, i guess the smell is too much after a while

Never noticed any of the cats I've had to do anything crazy, but then again they were mostly outdoor pets.


My former roommate and I had a (6 lb.) dog (that was hers) who would run around in quick circles before she would go sit in her spot at the door waiting to be taken out .

I have been studying my cat, and can say that he also goes nuts right before he poops. He starts with meowing a lot and very loud. Then he acts like he's on meth or crack for a few minutes. Finally he will go poop.

I have witnessed this 6 times and counting so far.

one of my cats actually wipes his ass. he poops and then drags his anus across the rug when hes done.
