Been working nights lately and haven't been spending some time with my daughter the way I would like. She's asleep when I come home and I'm asleep when she's at school, and when she gets home, we only have a few hours before she has to get ready for bed.
She's about to turn 4 and I'm not too far from Disney World and was thinking about taking her there.
My question is... is she she too young for Disney world and should I wait until she gets a little older?
If not, Disney world looks HUGE! What should I explore for a 3 year old?
Thanks. 1/23/2014 6:06:18 PM |

I was four the first time I went. I have vague memories but my parents say I had a wonderful time. Stick with the Magic Kingdom for a 4 year old. Or Animal Kingdom if you want to do 2 parks. 1/23/2014 6:24:26 PM |

If you live nearby and are just going for the day or a night or two, then I don't think she's too young. It's the people who make it a huge trip and spend weeks complaining about how much it costs, like their four year-old is forcing them to do it...those people should probably wait.
I don't know if she has any favorite characters, but if she does, you can dine with them:

You might need to research which one has the people she likes. 1/23/2014 8:43:31 PM |

Oh oh oh! Is she in to princesses? Do you have loads of cash to blow? If yes, Bibidi Bobitty Boutique. I don't know if I am spelling that correctly but my niece fucking loved that. You make an appointment waaayyy ahead of time and they do her hair and give her a princess dress and it is adorable. 1/23/2014 8:47:20 PM |

We went to Au'lani, and we had breakfast there where Mickey and Minnie and some of the others would come up and sit with you. She was two at the time and got really scared of Mickey's big head, but warmed up after about 20 minutes.
I think she's over it now... and thinking about the one in Orlando.
Thanks for the suggestions. I don't know about the boutique... she really doesn't sit in one place too long...

Wait til she's 4 or 5. Do you remember anything from when you were 3? I don't. My son is turning 4 in April, and I am going to wait at least a year to take him. 1/31/2014 12:41:14 PM |

Magic Kingdom is the way to go for sure. It has the most to do, and it's also the most child friendly by far.
By the way, how did you enjoy Aulani? I've heard ridiculously good things.

Au'lani is great!... but seriously expensive. If you smoke, be prepared to fork over 14 bucks a pack... unless you go to the ABC store across the street... which was 10 bucks a pack. I lived across from Au'lani for about 18 months just before I got out of the Army... It was a little bit of a tease though because I was killer busy at work all the time.
There's four man-made lagoons there... a great workout for me (when I was really motivated) was to run across the sand dunes (the mini-peninsulas), then swim across the lagoons to get to the fourth one and then bike to where I began.
It's very beautiful if you've got the money! 1/31/2014 6:21:17 PM |
