We used to have Oreos, Reese's cups, a couple flavors of potato chips.
Now we have birthday cake, cookie dough, mint chocolate, peanut butter, inside out, ice cream, triple-decker and a whole other smattering of Oreos.
Dark chocolate, white chocolate, extra peanut butter, caramel, NutRageous and a bunch of other Reese's products.
Potato chips more or less flavored like any other kind of food including hot dogs, crab seasoning, guacamole, and like 45 different permutations of barbecue.
And it's like that for most food products (red velvet milk, anyone?)
How do you feel about this? Do you like the assorted flavors, or are you a traditionalist who prefers to stick to the basics? How far is too far? 1/24/2014 7:37:54 AM

I think they have the same thing going on, just with flavors that are prevalent in their culture. I doubt they have a couple dozen types of barbecue chips, but they have soy sauce and wasabi flavored Kit Kat bars and whatnot. 1/24/2014 7:51:17 AM

I don't necessarily mean this is a brand new trend. But 20 years ago there definitely weren't like 40 flavors of Oreos, either. 1/24/2014 10:35:02 AM

People are bombarded with messages of Dont. Eat. That. Crap. all the fucking time. Eventually they start to work, and you quit buying chips. But oh, now they came out with a new flavor and everyone says it's good. Of course extra msg and sugar sprinkled on top is good.

Hey, man. I get it. You don't eat processed foods. I think that's great, and I really respect for it. No bullshit. However, I think it's tiresome for you to shit on folks' threads if only to insist on your way.

I like the novelty of them, which is really all it's about. None of the flavored versions will stick long, and the original will always be there. So I will try a flavor that has an appeal to me.
My mom bought some gingerbread Twix for Christmas this year. I had such high hopes, but they were super gross. 1/24/2014 2:02:18 PM

That reminds me that I bought some diet cranberry Sprite a couple months ago. It wasn't very good, so naturally I mixed it with alcohol. I had 2 drinks and was super white girl wasted. That shit is its own date rape drug. 1/24/2014 2:21:42 PM

seriously, dude. We fucking get it.
and as far as I'm concerned, with regard to exotic/specialized flavors, the more the merrier. If they want to make an ice cream that combines chocolate Oreos, Reese's cups, and cheesecake, I'll eat the fuck out of it, gratefully. 1/24/2014 10:25:45 PM

Usually I'm a traditionalist. But I love me some mint Oreos. However, this is partially due to them being a recreation of one of my favorite childhood cookies, the Grasshopper. (Before they turned into a bullshit thin mint ripoff.) 1/25/2014 12:09:06 AM

I wish they would stick with mainly traditional products with maybe a twist thrown in here or there to keep things interesting.
Because I like to try all the new products, so I buy them way more than I should. Which is exactly what the food companies want me to do. 1/25/2014 7:57:14 PM
