Does anyone have a good recommendation of a company and a general idea of how much it is to get your house tested? I am looking at a house in 1925, and I noticed the pipes were wrapped. I want to get them tested for asbestos before I make an offer.
Any ideas/recommendations? 1/31/2014 2:34:33 PM |

I like Matrix because they are a consultant and do not do remediation themselves, I like having an independent party do my asbestos surveys
For remediation I've had good experiences with Enpuricon and also EHG. Generally the bids I've gotten from EHG are a little lower than Enpuricon, but not by a significant amount. Either Enpuricon or EHG are great local options. 2/1/2014 9:43:19 AM |

just to run a sample, or to come and do a survey or create a sampling plan? If its the same wrap all over and you just want to test it for asbestos, a single sample is less than $100. I'm not sure what air monitor sampling would cost for residential, but if its non-friable pipe wrap you don't need that. For a full survey probably around $1000 (just an educated guess, I do industrial stuff and not residential). 2/3/2014 9:15:36 AM |

This is a good thing to go by, you never want someone doing an inspection that will profit from it.2/9/2014 10:16:30 PM |

My company uses this lab for a variety of testing:

Looks like they'll do asbestos too, but you might need to bring the sample to them. Give them a call. The Raleigh office is over near PNC Arena. (919) 834-4984. 2/10/2014 8:23:54 PM |

I've got asbestos underneath the carpet at my workplace. I assume water leaking and soaking said carpet and asbestos is no big deal, right? 8/16/2016 2:53:33 PM |

it should not be an issue, no.
If the water degrades the carpet to the point that it is falling apart and the mastic or vct below the carpet (whatever has the asbestos)is being degraded and the asbestos made friable, yes. 8/16/2016 2:56:31 PM |
