Wake is terrible on the road. This should be an "easier" W than the games we've been sweating out the last few weeks. That said, I have no doubt that this will come down to a 1 or 2 possessions. Hopefully we'll manage to get more than 1 defensive rebound in the last 8 minutes of this game.

Clearly NIT. State is at best a very soft bubble team. I think we all have agreed we need some quality wins to boost our profile with potential wins @ Syracuse, @ Pittsburgh, and vs. UNC (in addition to a possible ACC tourney run). An RPI of 57, 0-4 vs. Top 25 & 1-6 vs. Top 50 isn't gonna cut it. Hell, Clemson would probably get in over us at the moment.

I'm thinking we would need at minimum to win one of the following:

vs. UNC
@ Pitt
2 ACCT wins (assuming we don't tank to a play-in game)

in order to have a legitimate chance to be last four in. Not even sure @ clemson would count as a quality win.

Haha, everyone talking about NCAA, I'm just trying to get to 20 wins and .500 record in the ACC. Those were my marks for a "successful" season given the state of our team. Haven't wavered from that, I'll take that and be fine with the NIT. Beating UNC at home would be icing on the cake at that point.

That being said, beating WF is going to be an important win for getting us to .500 or better in the ACC. Have to beat the teams we're suppose to beat, and hopefully the team wants payback from that earlier loss to them.

I didn't say we should win all 3 of those games. At least one and a tourney run would do wonders (as long as we don't drop any games we should win). But if we lose to those 3 teams and win one ACC tourney game, then there's no way we are getting in, regardless of a 10-8 ACC record.

selection committee determines whose on a short list before the tournaments because they don't have time to keep up with everything. winning 2 games won't suddenly get us in from that point

10-8 means we lose another game we should win and still dont have any good wins.

11-7 +1ACCT is where we're aiming.

yeah right now but you know how things can change with the weather at ncstate. we're liable to lose out from here on and it wouldn't be a shocker to anyone.

Our current trajectory says we will finish between 9-9 and 11-7 so NIT seems to be a lock with NCAA really needing that big win against unc pitt or cuse.

That would put our record at 22-12, our last-10 record at 7-3, and our RPI in the low 40s. You get in 100 out of 100 times with that resume.

^ you can't make a claim like that. there are too many variables such as upsets in smaller conferences that steal bids and bust bubbles.

the 2 acct wins is asking a lot as well. winning on friday means beating a team that beat us by 30 already. highly unlikely.

Pitt did nearly beat us by 30 if you take out the first 4-5 minutes of the game where we jumped out to a 17-2 lead. Just imagine had we won that game and the Cincy game how much nicer our resume would look.

if we go 10-8 that will put us in the duke/virginia side of the bracket. we'd rather play pitt/cuse because we'd match up better but that would mean we were 8/9 to play 1/4 and have no shot at the tournament anyway.

This only gets us in if one of those wins are against Pitt/Cuse/UNC. We pretty much have ZERO quality wins against good teams and a couple losses against shitty teams. So basically we are beating the mediocre-to-shitty teams we should be beating.

You've got to have some signature wins on your resume to get in the tourney (when you're on the bubble). We don't have any right now.

Yes i know it's possible but there's no way we manage to beat all the teams we should. But I can see a scenario where we knock off, say, Pitt...but then throw up all over ourselves vs. a BC.
