I can't remember from the first season but why does Frank like Meachem (fbi / secret service agent) so much? 2/14/2014 6:21:51 PM |

Frank did him a massive life changing favor by getting his job back after he shot the gun in the residential neighborhood..which frank did out of boredom...not kindness
Frank knows meechum thinks he's forever in his debt....
Besides....meechum knows a lot and can be completely trusted because of the above 2/14/2014 7:35:41 PM |

can't wait til people are caught up so we can discuss this all.
this series is fucking amazing. I'd have to say this and GoT are easily the best series I've ever watched. 2/14/2014 8:07:22 PM |

Just finished. I think it's a good show, but not great. There's a lot of subplots that are just wastes of time and uninteresting. 2/16/2014 2:39:12 AM |

Thought the 2nd season was really good, and they left a bunch of subplots still open for the 3rd season. Should be an interesting 3rd season. 2/16/2014 10:42:27 AM |

I thought it was alright. Acting was great but the storyline was way more predictable then the previous season. Now next season will be his downfall till the final episode where he orchestrates his own assassination. 2/16/2014 8:33:24 PM |

Think it was just part of the isolation of Frank and showing that everyone around him was being targeted by Major Dad. He was a casualty in the war over who controlled the President. 2/17/2014 11:14:09 AM |

I can see it now, as Frank Underwood is being sworn into office after becoming president without ever landing a single vote...Kanye West takes the stage.
"I just want to say, that Gerald Ford did it first and better bitch." And walks off the stage. 2/17/2014 3:00:29 PM |
rjrumfel All American 23027 Posts user info edit post |
I think he and his wife have already gotten too much bad press to be able to make an honest run for president. But nothing Frank has done to this point has been honest, so there's no telling.
I'd like to see some back story as to why Doug is so unflinchingly loyal, even when he knows his boss is a murderer...I don't remember Frank specifically telling Doug about Russo, but I think the show implied that he told Doug about it. 2/17/2014 8:56:01 PM |

No, I don't think they will either. It just seems out of character for someone to be so loyal. He was loyal even when the guy was just a whip. 2/18/2014 6:27:29 AM |

finished it Sunday night - great season - a bit disappointed that it was a bit predictable too early in but there are still some great 'out of left field' moments all the way up to the last few scenes 2/18/2014 8:55:36 AM |

I kinda feel like they elevated him to VP too soon. I think it would have been just as enjoyable seeing him as the whip for maybe 2 seasons and just him doing his below-the-belt work to get the party members in line.
I feel like now that he's VP in season 2, there's no where to go from there except down...and you can really only play that for one more season, and I'd like to see Frank Underwood around for a while. 2/18/2014 1:11:59 PM |

Watched all of season 1 over the long weekend so have only seen the first episode of season 2 and omg
Everyone told me I would like it because of how much I love West Wing. I do like this show, but it is the exact opposite of what the West Wing viewing experience was like.

____________SPOILERS AHEAD! SPOILER ALERT__________________________
I really had a WTF moment with Mara dying...but an even bigger question mark with the meechum threesome. That made no sense to me..him and Claire i thought were going to bang anyways...but banging Frank too, weirded me out.
The impeachment thing was way too easy to get accomplished in that fast of an order...they really havent given timelines though...so these episodes could be months apart.
So next season should be him repairing everything HE broke and also trying to shore up some ridiculous reason and mission that he is GUARANTEED to be re-elected(or not even elected, somehow appointed) I do like his climb from only his House seat and PEOPLE VOTING for him to Speaker, Whip, VP and now President without a single vote of the people being taken. So I feel like they will continue with that trend.
__________END SPOILERS_____SPOILER ALERT OFF___________________________________
but yes, this show/season is something i Really looked forward too...although I think Season 1 was more intriguing and "real life" 2/18/2014 10:42:22 PM |

As far as the timeline goes, episodes definitely have some time between them. The only ones that stick out right now though are where meechum gives him cuff links for his birthday and the later one where Claire makes the comment "I know your birthday isn't for another couple of days" or whatever and gives him his college ring 2.0.

Another thing. Doug had what was probably the worst death of anyone in terms of least dramatic and shocking. I assume he is dead...and thank God they got Rachel naked. I fully expect Jackie to have a huge role in season 3. Still will be weirded out by the Meechum thing for awhile</p>

Spoiler
So during the deposition or whatever did Raymond just finally give in to Frank and that is why he told Congress that the president knew about the money laundering scheme? That is the only reason I can come up with regarding his testimony. And if so, I guess he's betting on getting a presidential pardon? I don't see how Frank can pardon Raymond without implying that he himself was involved somehow. Unless Raymond plead out....they didn't let us see what happened behind those closed doors.
