What do y'all think about the M8? I'm trying to decide for a new Android phone for Verizon in the next few weeks. Would you take this over the S5?

From a specs standpoint, they seem fairly similar, but I love Sense UI and have had 3 HTC phones (working on getting rid of my cracked screen ReZound).

I currently have the HTC One 2013 ... Yes. Still a great phone, from the hardware to the software, HTC keeps SenseUI pretty classy.

I hate the Samsung shit UI (Galaxy S3 here). If it weren't for root I would hate my phone. I am in the same position. My upgrade eligibility was supposed to be in June (I checked on Sunday), but when I logged in today to see if they had the M8 up it said I was eligible to upgrade.

My wife has the old One and it is a great phone. So now I am not sure what I want. I like cyanogenmod 10 on my s3 and I'm not keen on spending $200 for an upgrade right now. Sprint is usually good about giving me extra incentives (paid nothing but the activation fee for my wife's M7 when it came out) if I hound them enough. For the right price I would go for an M8.

PS From what I heard, the S5 is barely an upgrade from the S4.

I'm also considering this, as I'm due for an upgrade sometime in April. My only concern is the size--I'm not a fan of huge phones. The Galaxy S4 is just too big in my opinion, and I'm not sure if the One is any smaller. But it's hard to get a quality phone that isn't a big fucker these days--most that are of a more trim size are also decontented.

(Ideal would be about a 4" screen, which most manufacturers have left in the dust. Except apple but their tall-n-skinny aspect ratio on the 5 series is odd.)

^^The DROID Mini is about 4" I believe.

[Edited on March 26, 2014 at 4:42 PM. Reason : just a scaled down version of the Ultra i think]

They are probably doing a bogo of the M7 (old HTC One) since the m8 just came out. And about the size, it is like a 1/2" taller than the S4 or S5. HTC is not known for minimalist bezels.

The BOGO is on the new one. $200 for the first, second one is free if you have two lines available for upgrade.

my coworker got one. I would get it over the s5 in a heart beat. I hate the bandaid look they went with on the back. I am waiting on the Sony z2 myself.

That BOGO deal is pretty good. I'm gonna call Sprint and see if I can get them to match that

I feel like getting a new phone, but right now I'm planning on waiting for the Nexus 6 and going to a chaper carrier.
