I've had this dream recently, that I somehow missed something and have to go back and get my degree that I never actually earned.
Though the last actual class I had in grad school I only ever attended like 4 times for tests. It was just a TA reading a professor's power points. I actually went, turned in assignments and walked out immediately after several times. Still got an A-.

Usually a math class of some sort.
The twist on the theme for me is that the dream is rarely set at NCSU; instead, they've realized that I technically never graduated high school, so all of my degrees are invalid until I go back and complete it. But I figured, hey, it's high school, this is easy...until the exam day shows up and I realize I don't remember algebra. 4/2/2014 5:24:50 PM

Back at Stanford Law, we studied the modern proliferation of food poisoning cases against wealthy private homeowners. In fact, if one we so inclined, one could make quite a lucrative law practice with little else. Ahahaha. How is everybody feeling tonight? 4/2/2014 6:09:21 PM

The dream often occurs in approximation with having forgotten or being concerned about forgetting to do something important in waking life The dream may reflect a sense of responsibility, duty, or choice where the dreamer knows what he/she should do, but is hesitant/reluctant to do the act A change involving the end of something is imminent and there is low confidence about the future It is a time when regrets of past actions or inactions have been in mind—a possible prompt to not "put off until tomorrow what can be done today" The dream, when it comes in approximation with a significant date, such as a birthday, anniversary, school reunion year, date of the death of someone significant, offers the doorway to the classroom as a metaphor to paths not taken, the recognition that a "long" time has passed without goals achieved The dream is a reminder not to miss an opportunity or take a more active role in one's destiny" |

This is a recurring dream for me and it's usually high school English. Only reason I can think of is because I changed English classes a month or two into my junior year.

Human Resources 101 iirc. I tried really hard up until the first exam and then got really sick for several weeks. The teacher said on day 1 that there were no re-takes. If you missed an exam for any reason he would just weight the final more heavily. I fell way behind in all my classes due to the sickness and just stopped going to that one for some reason. When I decided it was time to buckle down and get my head above water I went back to class only to find out it was the day of the second exam (which I promptly skipped.) Then I just didn't really go back to that class.
I ended up reading the entire textbook two or three times in the two days leading to the final and got a B- for the year, but it was a big wakeup call. Another ~48 hours of procrastinating and it would have probably been a F.

Always history class for some reason.
Sometimes the dream would be about forgetting to go, other times the dream would be about going but there were never any assignments or tests... I'd stress about that and wonder if there had been homework and tests but I had just missed them for whatever reason. 4/3/2014 7:40:20 AM

I did dream a few times that I went to the wrong classes on the wrong day. Like, I went to all my Tues/Thurs classes on a Wednesday by mistake and nobody was there or it was the wrong class. But that's really the only comparable dream I had 4/3/2014 1:32:11 PM

ACC220, Financial Accounting. I remember what the instructor looked like; I remember how his voice sounded; I remember that he smoked and often wore blazers but never a tie. I remember liking him but hating the class. Why can't I remember his name?
That's the one every time. Probably because IRL I skipped it so often that I almost never turned in the homework and happened to show up one morning when there was a test, totally unprepared. But I actually passed, unlike in the dream where I completely stopped going, forgot about it, and then remembered just before graduating (2 years later). 4/3/2014 10:36:44 PM

The weird thing about that with me is that even when I'm stressed or worried about something at work, I usually still sleep alright. It just seeps into my dreams. But it doesn't (usually) keep me up at night.
