Durham, N.C. — No one was hurt when shots were fired in the parking lot of Northgate Mall late Thursday afternoon.

Durham police said an off-duty sheriff’s deputy was responding to a disturbance in the parking lot just before 4 p.m. Shorts were fired, and the deputy chased a man believed to be involved.

One vehicle was damaged.

More information was not immediately available.
