trust me, i work with over 3 dozen drivers on any given week. they have to sit at shippers/receivers for hours on end and most of them are very chill about it.

back in the day when I worked at a rock quarry, we had a back gate for when truck traffic was overflowing, and the gate switch was in the office where they couldn't see the back gate

one truck driver figured out that if he radioed in that the "trucks were backed up out the gate", they would open the back gate, and he would get to skip the line get dumped and loaded and back out really quick (which was a real pain in the ass when it came to keeping track of who was where)

one day I saw the back gate opening and called the office and asked why, they said "the trucks are backed up out the gate" and I saw maybe 10 trucks waiting in the yard if that many.

so....after mr smart guy comes in the back gate, I make sure the loader on that side loads every truck in sight other than him first, then proceeds to smooth out the road a little (cause this needs done every now and then) then when this is the only truck left, the loader starts to drive towards him, then pulls a 180 and goes to the porta john and stayed there 10 mins.

dude was FUCKING PISSED, I told him to quit costing my people time when he didn't have to, he cussed me and said we had lost his company as a customer, I told him to have a manager call me and say that, they never did. and to top it all off, the back gate was now closed so he had to go all they way around front to get out.

he never pulled that shit again

in all honesty thats 1 bad apple. I've dealt with some real assholes (mostly carriers based out of Chicago). I like the good ol southern guys. They run shit, don't bitch, work with me, and are always on time. In reality these guys (and gals) are professional drivers that keep our country in business. A VERY small percentage of deaths are trucking related when compared to teens texting while driving, idiots not paying attention, and drunk drivers. I got their backs.
