It was billed as 10-30 million "patriots" coming to force Obama and others out of office for several months. When the day came a couple of hundred at most showed. #OperationAmericanSpring trended very high on Twitter, but that is because the hashtag was primarily used to mock this so-called movement. Today the mockery continued with #AmericanSpringExcuses . Here is a video of what it looked like:

It is awful to watch, especially after 14:20 or so. It is clear that highly delusional conspiracy nuts drove this Tea Party crowd. Amazingly some took on the Guy Fawkes thing. I personally see it as a symbol of the Tea Party's decline, and that has also been noted in quite a few primary elections leading into the Midterms. 5/17/2014 10:03:35 PM |

Besides firearms manufacturers, emergency food companies, and Bible publishers, what corporations out there would back the Tea Party? 5/18/2014 7:29:15 PM |

Koch Industries, big tobacco, and Fox News were the big astroturf sources that started the movement

You think Koch has been behind the Tea Party? I think it's Soros. What better way to drive a wedge in the Republican party...Create a new ultra conservative party, attract the far right away from the mainstream conservative party, then tell the world that the Tea Party is made up of nothing but racists, preppers and fanatics, and BOOM. You have difficulty winning in '12. And it worked. 5/19/2014 8:28:53 AM |

no, it was definitely Koch brothers through Citizens for a Sound Economy, FreedomWorks, and Americans for Prosperity. This hasn't been a secret for years, and wasn't really a secret at the time. 5/19/2014 8:52:00 AM |

Quote : | "ix states held primaries on Tuesday, and once again anti-establishment candidates came up short in high-profile Republican showdowns.
That's a sharp difference with what we have seen over the last two election cycles, when establishment Republicans were overwhelmed by the insurgency in their own party and did little to stop it. But they appear to have turned the tables on the conservatives so far in this election cycle and have a string of victories to show for it." |
