I swapped in an RCA "A63ADT15X09" tube from my TV for my old tube which was type RCA "A63ADT10X05" in a marvel heroes vs streetfighter cabinet.
They are both 25" and the tube types are identical, as I've listed, but for the "15x09"(new one) and the "10x05" (old one) as the last identifying digits.
Some of the connections were different but I soldered "like" to "like" and have it plugged in. (except for an extra connection coming off the weird springy like wire attached to the back of the tube. the old tube had only one connection to worry about, this one has two)
will this tube work or ... whats going on here?
wtf are those mystery wires just "laying" on the back of every TV anyway?

Make sure the pics are 640x350 GIFs so literally every corpse who knew anything about picture tubes will be able to inspect them closely on their EGA monitors once they've been resurrected to reply to this thread. 5/27/2014 10:18:19 AM |

no need. some canuck deadite who operates a radical right wing extremist television repair shop e-mailed me the answers.
The insulated mystery wire(s) are on-board degaussing coils
The springy glued on uninsulated wire is the tube ground so when you touch the screen as a gag to get a small zap it doesn't hit you with a half million volts instead
The tubes should be exactly the same and the difference in their formal typing "10x05" ect just indicates their mounting bracket locations 5/27/2014 7:13:52 PM |
