****Forwarded Message**** The Civic Data Design Lab at MIT is looking for a creative new interface and web mapping programmer to help us with the next iteration of our City Digits project. The City Digits Tool allows youth to interact with data to analyze urban issues while also teaching them math skills. The project allows youth to create their first data visualizations. For more information on the project see our web site .
A beta web site was tested and released over the last year in Brooklyn Public Schools. Based on the feedback we have created a new design, the wireframe is in place, we just need the help of a creative programmer to assist with the interface and web-mapping implementation. We also need help making the program more available to teachers outside our beta releases and that means help with and database admin page.
We are looking for someone familiar with web mapping technology such as: mapbox, postgres and postgis databases, leaflet, and Cartodb. We also want someone who knows jango , java script, python, and general interface design. The current code which you will be building off of can be found at GitHub. .
This is a great opportunity to be part of an important new tool teaching civics and data visualization to youth! This is a fellowship position which means the work can be done anywhere. You just provide us with the Scope of Work.
Please contact Sarah Williams (sew@mit.edu) at the Civic Data Design Lab if you are interested. 5/27/2014 1:37:35 PM |
