adultswim, the number you used for "white people in US" includes White Hispanics, but the figures for the racial distribution of SNAP recipients segregate Hispanics into a separate racial category, the same way the common parlance does; a better comparison would use the figures for non-Hispanic Whites and non-Hispanic Blacks in the US from that table: 196,817,552 and 37,685,848

The logic doesn't flow. You haven't proven which race is lazier to the person in question with your "higher percentage" claim. You've only shown which race has a larger portion of people on welfare and that the person regards those people as lazy. You would need to establish welfare as the leading indicator of laziness to the person in the initial claim.


You could say:

If a person believes that whichever race has the highest percentage of people on welfare is the lazier than others
And the black race has the highest percentage of people on welfare,
Then that person believes that the black race is lazier than the white race.


This would be logically correct, but you would lose the main premise of the "trap" that you are trying to set. I don't care about nor condone the actual discussion, I just enjoy clear & concise logic.

Instead of trying to trap people, why is it just not ok to say (if you believe that welfare = lazy) that all white people on welfare are lazy, and all black people that are on welfare are lazy. Why not just leave it at that? Regardless of what percentage of what race subscribes to welfare.

mildew, its definitely a little faulty, but I think people who fit the bill would generally consider welfare to be a leading indicator
