Also Phil Fish is a jackass. I never actually played Fez but it by all means looks like a lovely little game that I'd enjoy, but it's just so hilarious to see him explode at people on twitter all the time and pretend like there are still people longing for him to come back to making games.

I think this is where investors to a game sit on a game competition panel and award 1st to their game. And it wasn't disclosed at the time. Also the game got to go to the competition twice, which hadn't happened before.

I don't care who Zoe fucks and I don't think it had much of an impact on coverage of her crappy game (although she admitted she didn't want to break it off with one reporter during a con because it could affect his coverage of her game), but it is extremely hypocritical to take the moral high ground in public on sexuality when she is secretly nailing numerous friends and lying about it to her boyfriend. And she and her boss should be ashamed for fucking around while he is married. That is pretty shitty and if she worked for him she would know he was married. One night stand type thing, its quite possible one would not know, but they are both shit heads for that. I will say ex-boyfriend seemed pretty obsessive about collecting information, but if he did this, at least he was thorough and left little doubt that she actually did this stuff.

Phil Fish can fuck himself. He tried to make himself the center of the story and apparently faked a dox attack. His personal whiny antics keep me from ever wanting to play Fez even before this crap came out.

As for the trolls coming out at Zoe and Anita, they are stupid but did anybody think a guy that tweeted some dumbshit was really going to come over to Anita's house?? He should not have done it, duh, but it seemed more like a publicity stunt on her part. If she truly is concerned, don't you think she should not broadcast that shit on Twitter? Police will tell you don't inform anybody if you are concerned about your life being in danger. She tries to put up the few trolls of the group as some massive anti-woman conspiracy, which I feel is diverting attention from the real problem which just came up because of the Quinnspiracy.

Websites not covering this stuff saying it is her personal life, but then freely going after other game developers for their personal beliefs and personal lives. One lesbian reporter at Kotaku covering her girlfriends games pretty heavily and giving it great reviews, even though its an obvious conflict of interest. RTC posted about another one uncovered where IGF and IndyCade judges were investors in Fez and got a cut of the profits, and then it won the game of the year. As a symptom of the "problem" of chauvinism in games some people have been pointing to the Spiderwoman alternate cover and showing how it was used to sexualize her. Spiderman was posed the same way over a decade ago, so it seems like people are inventing a problem to be outraged about.

TL;DR Gamergate is a push back by "old school" gamers who feel that current gaming "journalism" is trying to force a more progressive agenda. Old school gamers want them to cover games in an unbiased manner and are calling out journalists and how closely associated game devs and game journalists are.

So while yes the ball got rolling from the Zoe story, its gone well beyond that now. A lot like how the Marvin Austin tweet was the beginning of the scandal at UNC athletics. It went beyond him very quickly. People still trying to frame it as an attack on Zoe or women are trying to marginalize a movement that is more about getting some fucking integrity in the gaming industry and shedding light on all of the corruption and deals that have been going on in video gaming journalism and developers over the last several years.
