In the beginning, at least as I remember it, jackleg and FroshKiller were kind of big deals. People thought Joie was hot. There weren't any decent nudes. The wolfweb enjoyed a brief period of growth and notoriety, mostly fueled by pranks involving fake closing announcements when it snowed. ReceiveDeath became BubbleBobble and posted a lot of stuff about Miley Cyrus back when it was really creepy to do that. Also there was something called EUPHALO.

Marko drew some stylized pictures. Evan showed up and gained popularity even though he turned out to be super gay, which In the Beginning probably would have been a liability but the world got more accepting. Joie flooded the market with nudes, which caused some people to claim that they did not think she was hot. Ambrosia posted a lot about sex and then died.

Somewhere in there another website tried to move in on TWW's turf and was destroyed. Also destroyed were Jon Chichwak's political career, Anita Flick's reputation, and Joie's marriage.

A number of firearms, video games, and secondhand furniture were traded. For a while some professors and courses were rated but that dropped off. The Soap Box was a robust debating society but now is pretty much just an extension of the Middle East crisis as re-enacted by OEP and bdmazur. Also disco_stu speaks highly of atheism. The occasional crazy person comes through with a conspiracy theory but none of these cranks hold a candle to salisburyboy.

CrazyJ sold TWW to some guy who I think sold it to several more guys before it finally ended up with our current benefactor, qtmnfred. He keeps the site going mostly out of pity.

Back when porn existed in physical media it was sold by the pound in the classified section when folks moved in with their girlfriends. that was me! I still appreciate that very much. I just sued her for the deductible on my insurance so it wasn't like she had to pay for the house damage out of pocket but it still took her four years or so to pay me back something like $1,500 (insurance plus my dog's surgery) and I had to stay in touch with her PO to make sure she continued to pay. My insurance also dropped me after that.

2001- What about that Brazilian guy? Travis is still a legend to me. So is Snewf (just saw him for the first time in 12 years last summer). I also always loved Eulogist, CasstheSass, Gizz, Everclear, Thomas (what was his name on tww?! Just saw him for the first time in 10 years this summer too), DrtyGreek, oh man, there were so many great characters. We used to have the best weekends and then post the funniest things about them during the week and then do it all over again next weekend. I used to love hanging out with PrufrockNCSU too- what ever happened to him?
