Maybe he just un-flexed his traps, haha? Anyway you should know "next gen" means better sweat, lighting and bump mapping.
It will be interesting to see if they take advantage of Tessellation, AO, Super Sampling, newest forms of AA, NVIDIA 3D Vision2, etc.
Oh I forgot the 2 other screens on Steam:

I'm glad EA's NBA Live is back.
2K has been good about taking a working formula and slowly improving it, but 2k11+ have all seemed pretty similar in terms of gameplay. Hoping some competition pushes some exciting changes/improvements. I've been waiting for improvements to My Player for awhile. 10/1/2014 12:55:51 PM |

Nah probably not. They place a lot of emphasis on the fabric physics and letting the jersey move naturally, if they put it closer to the shoulder it would probably clip through the shoulder a lot, showing bare skin where there shouldn't be any.10/1/2014 8:02:25 PM |

I was going to mention jersey physics earlier, but I figured it would be labeled an excuse. What is impressive is that guy's beard. I hope it moves as he runs though and I want to play him exclusively for a while, haha. I don't know NBA and I don't even watch it, but since EA owns the rights to NFL, NCAA and NHL, PC gamers are forced to play 2K Sports games or an even smaller dev. EA only gives us shitty ports of games they DRM the shit out of to try and prevent pirating (Titanfall). In reality people target these games due to the fact EA does this, see The Sims.
Most people who want sports games are going to pay for a legit copy for access to all features/updates, for example multiplayer outside of local mp. So EA is essentially closing off an insanely large market (see Madden petitions online) in order to give consoles an easy to steal game, haha. I bet with the PS4 and XBox One, people will figure out a way to use pirated copies without doing anything on the hardware level. At least that is what I kept hearing from friends online for the PS3 and Xbox 360 to play pirated games.
Take a look:
Anything past Madden 08 is all consoles/handhelds, because 2008 was the last one we got for PC...

So far I have been highly impressed by this game aside from a few bugs, the main one being a solid black texture bug when using the "high" setting on textures in game. The features now in My Career and My Team are impressive to say the least, but I will need more time before judging them. The defense is much, much better than before and the shooting system has also been tweaked.
The graphics are very impressive and get this, at only 1080p if you run all settings on high your VRAM will be right on the edge of 2GB. In other words unless you have a GPU with greater than 2GB, you are going to hit your VRAM wall where the FPS will drastically drop to stuttering levels. I do not believe I know of another game that isn't a "AAA" title meant to be able to bring systems to their knees (see Metro Last Light) that can achieve this.
Oh yea, the game is 47.7GB I am installing my old OCZ Agility3 64GB to run this game exclusively, haha. This is because even on a 1TB Western Digital Black, the load times are god awful for a PC. I mean I can store almost 50% of the game in my RAM. I know that makes no actual sense, it's just the point of these loading times not being necessary if the game was fully optimized at launch. Which brings me to my next technical issue, but I expected this one sadly, neither SLI or CFX are working yet. Many games will launch and they will work somewhat, this game does not work at all with multi-GPU setups. Considering the steep requirements for the PC, you would think this would have been a thought to include multi-GPU support. 10/9/2014 12:42:38 AM |

i picked this up for x1 from walmart yesterday. they are doing 50% bonus trade in credit when you trade two games and buy 2k. they actually give you decent money from games too, more than gamestop. i got $41 for watch dogs which base value was like $27. i think gamestop was only offering $18.
game is fun. i'm gonna try to build up the hornets.
anyone have any horror face scans? i got some busted ones that were pretty hilarious. good idea but poorly executed.

The most annoying thing still going on in terms of gameplay is where if you see someone posting up to shoot and you break your assignment for him to defend and the guy makes it, you get penalized. They have got to fix that shit, a simple minimum countdown timer to activate the score penalty will work. This has been going on since as long as I can remember with 2K NBA games. 10/9/2014 1:50:51 PM |

^You mean the "Allow man to score" penalty for MyPlayer, when you go to help out on post defense? I would always get "good shot defense" even if the post guy made the shot, so long as I bodied him up and/or timed the jump to contest.
Or do you mean when you double team in the post and your original assignment makes a wide open 3 on the kick out? That's what annoyed me, since the way 2k works the comp will score in the post at will against your team UNLESS you go help and doubleteam. 10/9/2014 4:38:08 PM |
BlackDog All American 15654 Posts user info edit post |
Yes that is what I am talking about and yes most of the time you do get that, but if you can't get there in time and you try to jump for the block you may not only get allowing him to score, you may also get bad block attempt penalty. IMO, that needs to be altered in someway, at least take away the bad block attempt. 10/9/2014 4:58:31 PM |

The only fundamental part of 2k games I dislike is how it tries to be a simulator rather than a game, I'm not saying I want it to be NBA JAM, but you can see when the game's design/formula causes scores/stats to get closer to believable numbers. When you're using a MyPlayer with 99 stats it gets annoying.
A+ shot quality with 99 ability and perfect release... if you have made 5 shots in a row, 2k will say "Well players don't usually go 6/6 so lets have the ball rim out" I wish the shot timing would be more difficult and have more influence, once you know a few basic moves you can get an A+ shot everytime and the game is just dice-rolling. 10/11/2014 3:40:20 PM |

If you have a problem with the game being too Simulator like, choose the option for making it more Arcade or dial it in through custom settings. In Settings under like Gameplay and you have Casual/Default/Simulation/Custom, I think that is a pretty good combo of play styles. You also have 5 difficulty settings Rookie/Pro/All Star/Superstar/Hall of Fame.
Another thing about defense is by default on a 360 controller if you use the left trigger it will do a lock on intense defense, but you need to be careful with it. If you are locked on with intense D and he makes a move around you for the basket you will have no chance to recover. I usually only use intense D on the perimeter (but I mainly play PG and SG).
I feel like it's hard to complain about the difficulty level of Sim/Arcarde of the game with so many options, you can even pick Custom in Game Style (see below).
Look at this stuff. You can pretty much dial everything in to what YOU feel like is fair/enjoyable. I see no reason for complaining on Sim vs. Arcade when you can literally pick every possible action on the court in either direction (Arcade or more towards Simulation).

The main setting is either Real player % or Shot Stick timing (default)
My point was that the shot stick timing is so basic, so easy, that it is really an irrelevant part of the game as currently designed. Shot quality becomes the only real variable, and once you understand how to create your own shot (2k14 gave every player in the game every move (really kinda stupid but hilarious to abuse and piss kids off) it is pretty much:
Excellent release, A/A+ shot quality most of the time.
Once that is established 2k shooting % is essentially a simulation, you need to look at your lineup's stat line mid game. 2k Will grant more success to any players that have under-performed thus far, and will generally cause a few misses to anyone that is having too much success.
Sure you can tweak the game sliders, but that doesn't fix the "simulator" aspect, that makes it worse... you're looking directly into a variable of the equation that determines shot success. I want 2k to get away from that and make it more timing dependant, perhaps add depth and difficulty to the early/late shot timing. Or go back to giving players limited shot abilities 10/13/2014 4:32:46 PM |

I get what you are saying, but I don't see how 2K could have done much better than they did. Once you get used to any game certain parts feel way too easy. Shooters are a perfect examples and I for one do not find the shooting the ball in this game insanely easy as you describe. However that may be because I don't play with a 360 controller all the time. I am a PC gamer, so games requiring controllers actually handicap my game playing prowess
I would think Madden would have way more issues than this small nitpicking though. 10/13/2014 10:02:50 PM |

In "MyCAREER" I have received this reward at the end of a game a few times where it says something about "make your player even better", but I don't see where the hell I gained anything or can use it..
I've read it happens every like 7 games or something, but where do I go to use it? Is it just in the generic attributes? If so I must have missed it or something.
Also in NBA 2K14 there were so many ways to help your player, such as the shoes you were wearing. You could also complete practice challenges and train with NBA stars. Why can I not find a single thing similar to any of this?
Am I blind or is it not there? My main question though is about the "make your player even better" reward that I can't find.

Since Vandenberg is with a NBA team, he is in the game.
You can pull anyone you want off the bench to play. However I mainly do "MyCAREER", but the other modes are fun too.
Once I get good, I'll start doing MP. Normally what happens is I start playing more towards the ACC Tourney into the NCAA Tourney and then I stop after we lose.
Then NBA 2K16 will come out and I'll buy it and repeat.

Would never happen because of copyrights and shit, but you know how in NCAA Football the MyPlayer or whatever lets you start off playing your high school playoffs (and in newer versions of the game your senior year of high school) before you decide where to enroll to play college ball? Would be call if in one of the career modes of NBA 2K you could play the NCAA tourney in your senior year or something. #coolideabro 2/28/2015 4:11:28 PM |

How you liking it?
I play this exclusively on the exercise bike. 10 minute quarters, game takes about 58 minutes in real time. I go about 20 miles and it says I burn 600 calories but not sure how accurate that is. I put it gradual incline for the first quarter, steeper for the 2nd, and really steep for the 3rd, before I drop it back down gradually in the 4th, because its usually a close game and I need to focus. Superstar difficulty, did a fantasy draft and built around Anthony Davis and Bradley Beal. Ride 5 times a week since January, in the middle of season 2. Made it to the Conference Finals last year, this season I'm third in the East and closing fast. And I've lost 9 pounds. 4/9/2015 11:11:07 PM |

im really enjoying the game. Started a myplayer but there are so many damn cut scene backstory BS things that it started really getting old to me...quickly. You get like 8 min of gameplay and then it takes 15 minutes to get back to the next game. I just wanna play. I don't wanna watch Eric Gordon give me a pep talk about how I shouldn't get my head down...especially after i pump in 9 points in 6 minutes.
Since that was dumb, I started up a franchise, 29 game season, with Charlotte and did a serpentine fantasy draft. My starting 5:
PG - steph curry SG - Kyle Korver SF - TJ Warren(I said i'd turn TJ into an all-star if i got this game) PF - Greg Monroe C - Robin Lopez
Defense is quite difficult for me and I'm still getting used to the offensive controls. I've never been good at the dribble drive moves. It just takes so much work to get those down that i've never wanted to put in. Seems like theres even more shit to do since 2k11 when the last time i played an NBA game was.
