I don't mind it as much anymore...I'm just old enough that I don't give too much of a fuck if I come off as awkward

I do, however, cordially hate phone calls that involve my own professional career. but these are mercifully rare.

I've found that if it's an intimidating phone call, write down your intro and a few bullet points to touch on during the call

as long as you're not a complete dolt, you can fill in the rest of the conversation

phone calls are inefficient, but effective in getting people to do stuff (speaking from the standpoint of work-related phone calls). Typically, people are unhappy if i'm popping up on their caller ID, because i'm probably about to ruin their day.
