yeah, that shit is an unbearable eyesore.

It was terrible enough when they message_topic.aspx?topic=641612

then they started autoplaying all video

but this latest redesign is like getting pushed backwards through a field of dicks. they have sacrificed actual space for content (textually based) for large, obtrusive, and generally obnoxious feature stories with pics/video.

It's because CNN is retarded and is part of the stupification of America. Animation and high-gloss graphics devoid of both written word/content is one technique to force the "dumbing of America".

To me, I have been watching the proliferation of both animated films in the box office; cartoons on TV, glossy graphics on the internet, and the decline in the written word in recent years....

only to discover

- Americans are increasingly fucking retarded (look around)
- There are way too many cartoons in the box office and on TV
- Too many retarded graphics on websites and cartoonish premises pushed on the public

- not enough reading books
- not enough people reading in general

aol.com is a surprisingly good place to find the best news and headlines without a bunch of mess.

I have noticed something, and I bet if they did an objective study they would see a weird correlation, sort of how healthier food is actually more expensive. Getting higher word counts (healthier for the brain) actually costs more money. You would think that the higher cost would actually result in more graphics (i.e., prettier pictures). Not the case at all.

The content that I pay for on my iPad e-reader has more text and less graphics, but if I just attempt to pull it for free off the internet there are far more graphics in the content.
(i.e., paid subscription to WSJ e-edition has far less graphics than visiting WSJ.com)

Ugg yes horrible.

Guess Ill be reading more BBC now. Missing out on US national news.

CNN's long time fail has been having videos only for many topics instead of attempting at least a short write up and then including the video.

cnn.com used to be my main source for world/national news (no, it wasn't Fox) but now I find myself going to yahoo.com or yes, Fox, because the new website is so horrible. I guess I'll get used to it after a while though, because I hated WRAL's redesign for the longest time, and now it doesn't bother me.

The front page looks like a fucking movie poster now. The ultimate way to trivialize journalism.

MSNBC did the same thing a year or two ago, and while not as horrid it is what made me look elsewhere for national news to read while in the shitter. CNN just shot themselves in the foot in my eyes. The BBC News and prob Fox (not sure I want to) are now my last alternatives for something to actually read.

CNN lately has reminded me of Court TV after the OJ trial or something.

They were once the thing that everyone was just locked into, and they were on top of the world and unstoppable.

But then it was just, like,... over, and now everyone is watching something else.

There has been a lot of news lately just about CNN just doing shit, and not just ITT which is kind of weird. Maybe people are just fascinated to kind of watch it fall because it was once a giant.

Maybe America is just tired of Nancy Grace bitching at People, Piers Morgan talking down to us, and Don Lemon just being a major douche. Erin Burnette should have stayed with CNBC, and Maria Bartiromo is just way hotter.
Alisyn Camerota has always been my favorite, and I liked her best on Fox News.

FTW

I think it all started with the missing plane. They have a habit of latching on to a story and pounding it down everyone's throat. Nancy Grace talked about Casey Anthony for close to 2 years etc.

There was a single moment I think we can point to more than any other.

And it was Jon Stewart calling Tucker Carlson a dick that got Crossfire canceled.

#DeathKnellofCNN

Quote :
"The Daily Show was well established as the gold standard of political satire. With just a few weeks to go before the presidential election, all eyes were on Stewart.

If you need more context, try this on for size: less than a month before his Crossfire appearance, Stewart and a few colleagues pitched Comedy Central executives on a Daily Show spinoff that would parody these yelling, fact-shunning pundits. Yes, it was still a pre-Colbert Report world, but the need was becoming clear.

Hundreds of thousands of people downloaded CNN’s video of the appearance, and since the subsequent invention of YouTube, several million more have watched the 12-minute takedown. In it, Stewart says Carlson and Begala are “partisan hacks” who aren’t fulfilling their journalistic responsibilities, and describes the program as dishonest and “theater.”
