Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., Electronic Systems, Linthicum, Maryland, has been awarded a $12,327,604 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for a research project under the Supply Chain Hardware Integrity for Electronics Defense (SHIELD) program. The SHIELD program aims to develop an advanced supply chain hardware authentication system and a capability that can detect counterfeit electronic components anywhere in the supply chain. Fiscal 2014 research and development funds in the amount of $1,438,053 and fiscal 2015 research and development funds in the amount of $2,551,023 are being obligated at the time of award. Work will be performed in Linthicum, Maryland (72 percent); Albuquerque, New Mexico (10 percent); Santa Clara, California (8 percent); Reston, Virginia (5 percent); Lubbock, Texas (3 percent); and Atlanta, Georgia (2 percent) with an estimated completion date of July 2016.
