If we lose that 83 game State fans are probably way more bearable than we currently are.

As a State fan here's a few that come to mind:

- TA WAS IN
- the no charge call on kendall marshall's game winner in Gott's first year (think that was ACC semis). Although that really wouldn't have changed much in the grand scheme of things. We still made the sweet 16 that year.
- something from the Vanderbilt game the year we were a 3 seed. I seem to recall Evitmov not getting a foul called on an attempted 3. And maybe Vanderbilt had a close foul go their way or something.
- Chandler Parsons. Again, fairly inconsequential - we didn't make the NCAAT that year. But I still shudder every time I hear his name and that's reason enough for me.
- Don't remember the specifics, but the year we lost to Cal in the NCAAT didn't they hit a late shot to win it? I guess I'd change that but I really can't remember much about it.

No other State plays are coming to mind, but I'm sure I'll be reminded of some ITT.

And John Kasay's out of bounds kick, which somebody else mentioned already.

Interesting how things workout. That Gio Bernard punt return is one of the worst State football moments of recent memory. But if we win that game, TOB likely saves his job for another year. He probably would've just been fired the next season, though. But we probably wouldn't have Doeren as our HC now...some may argue that'd be for the better haha.

Frings should have been off and with the penalty, it would have been 1-1. It was probably the best US performance in WC history already and I would have liked our chances in the last 40 minutes up a man to go on to win to go to the semifinals.

Football: The block in the back on Terrell Manning's pick-6 against Clemson in 2010.
Basketball: Anything Redick related in the 2003 ACC-T final.

If I had to pick one of those I'd go Turner's play. That goes out and we win a championship.

Agree with all the NC State stuff, but the two plays that stand out in my mind as the most painful (probably because I was still a kid):

Lonnie Smith's base running mistake in the 8th inning of game 7 of the 1991 world series that cost the Braves the championship.

Jim Fucking Leyritz homerun in game 3 of the 1996 world series in which the Braves would have taken a 3-0 lead in the series and would have won back-to-back titles. Instead the Braves dynasty died and the fucking Yankees dynasty began. Fuck Jim Leyritz.

The play that really made me sick from that game was when the UCLA left fielder completely air mailed a throw home so our guy on third tries to score only to have the ball perfectly ricochet off the backstop directly back to the catcher who throws the runner out. I mean how do you hit the backstop on the fly when trying to throw it home? Worst throw I've ever seen gets the out.

The ACC Championship game in baseball a few years back vs. FSU. I have never seen NC State shit more prevalent than in that one play where FSU tied/took the lead.

I mean, I knew we were going to surrender bc we are NC State but their runner made a point to scoot 4 feet off the baseline and destroy our unprepared catcher who had to be stretchered out of there. All of Russell Wilson's prayers couldn't save us that day.

NC State football:
- Russell Wilson INT vs Virginia Tech in the endzone right before half time. We would have gone up 24-0, and likely VT does not come back to beat us. That would have started our season 5-0

- Underwood steps out of bounds on a touchdown run vs #3 Clemson, which would have given us the lead and momentum. Instead, we threw an INT 2 plays later and Clemson drives for a TD to deflate our hopes.

NC State basketball:
- New Orleans buzzer beater, which beat our JJ Hickson team. This was loss #1 out of the 4 we were prophesized to have that year. It broke our spirit and our season.

- Howell misses a 3 pointer at the buzzer vs. #2 seed Kansas in Sweet 16. If he made it, we would have won by 1, and played UNC in the Elite 8

Speaking of Maryland, the technical foul for not getting our chairs off the court in time against Maryland in the ACC tournament semifinals in 2004. We were up 19 at halftime. They scored fucking 59 points in the 2nd half, especially Gilchrist. Complete momentum shift capped off by that bullshit technical.
