I did MIA when I was a kid and loved it for the duty-free situation.

I did it as an adult while waiting on a friend and also loved it. The security dudes took me around everywhere and got me free stuff and hung out while we waited.

Turns out I was dressed like an actual prostitute...apparently. In the future, I recommend the whole hooker get-up...airports are totes easy!

If you're there that long its worth it to get a one day membership to a club like US Airways. You can drink and eat all you want, and the Charlotte one has a huge bowl of those White Cheddar cheese its, and they don't even care if you take some for your flight.

Seconded on MIA being bad. It seemed dirty on immediate first impression, but it's been a little while. I've only been through a couple of times, but once somebody died right by us (they were older).

There was a doctor in the vicinity waiting on a flight so she handled what could be done. Nobody from the airport came to get the body for what, in the situation, was a loooooooooooooong time.

Last time I went through MIA it was raingin and the airport leaked like a sieve. Janitors had trashcans out catching roof leaks like every 50 feet.

I know Miami isn't the nicest airport. But I don't mind it. Although I guess I'm always in a good mood there because I'm going to the Caribbean.
