There's not a lot of overlap in the segment that cares what they are drinking and that wants one container than you can buy at the c-store drink on the walk home, for a little while at home while you look for more change, and on the walk back to get another one.

Two totally different use cases for the products.

I drank mostly 40s and half gallons of Evan Williams in College. Value play, but I did select 40s based on how interesting the label would make my refrigerator contents look (I had a dedicated one for 40s) and if Billy Dee Williams ran QA and assured me of how often it would work.

Because if you drink 40 ounces of an IPA you would die from the disgustingness.

40 oz is a great size for when you just want a few pints after work. More than a 24oz, nowhere near a six pack. It's too bad the bottle carries such a stigma.

I could go for a Hoppyum 40 right now if such a thing exists.

Apparently, and I don't wanna ruffle any feathers here...we're supposed to drink three to four beers out of the 6-pack if we only want 36-48 ounces.

Then we're supposed to save the remaining beers for a later date--or share them with our friends!

This. You can get growlers at almost all breweries. Kind of dangerous though. Especially with the discounts you get with refills.

Not a beer drinker I take it? Usually one associates a growler with a beer growler...

I just wanted to know if your girlfriend could still stand to be around you.

I've been counting on a breakup for at least a couple years now.

I don't like you. You know that.

No didn't know that. Not quite sure we even know each other...

But no I assumed you were referring to the slang term growler.

Regardless she's not a beer drinker. Really only drinks wine. However the craft wine scene is getting pretty big and if you could get the equivalent of a growler of wine I'm sure she would be game.

Maybe one day your tastes will evolve and you'll appreciate a quality beverage like an IPA.

And I'm drinking and enjoying a Coors Light right now, so you basically have no comeback.

I am also enjoying a Coors light right now.

I enjoy other types of beers, just not beer that is bitter for bitters sake.

I've had some good IPAs, and I've also had several pisswater microbrew IPAs that use hops to cover up the bad flavors and imperfections in their beer. The latter is the reason I don't appreciate a brewery that specializes in IPAs in the same way that I do a brewery like Red Oak, Ommegang, or Allagash. With that being said, my favorite breweries are dogfish head and flying dog, both of which have IPAs as their flagship beers.
