They probably ran off to avoid a ticket for not properly securing their load and a lawsuit from all the people who will inevitably tear up their cars as a result of their mistake.

This wouldn't happen if more people used 30 year old dry rotted twine and some old shoestrings they were saving to secure their load. Gotta leave some jobs to the pros.

That actually happened over the weekend. Someone lost a mattress and box spring on 40...Mattress went off to the side, but the box spring splattered all over the middle two lanes.
