That was my initial reaction from the headline. However, they responded to a non-emergency call for assistance in handling someone with a mental illness by sending two police officers armed with rifles and then just chalk it up to "suicide by cop"

The dudes drunk when they bust in the room, they yell at him to drop the knife and then open fire when he didn't comply.

And from what it seems, there was no investigation into the shooting afterwards. They just hauled his dead body off and left a bloody room for his parents to clean up. From what his dad said it looks like the dude was still laying in bed when they opened fire.

She probably should have called the suicide hotline. Who then would have relayed the information to the proper none swat authorities.

Personally I would never let armed cops into my house to deal with someone that is considering killing themselves. She should have told them to fuck off when they showed up in their tactical gear.
