He's trying to push an ordinance that would disallow any bar from using public sidewalk for outdoor seating that doesn't make at least 30% of its profits from food. It's also of note that none of the properties he owns would suffer from it, while a lot of his direct competition would. Think Paddy O' Beers, Anchor Bar, Capital City Tavern, etc.

He asked for Raleigh to pass a moratorium on granting outdoor music permits, or even the ability to keep the doors open while music is playing outdoors, and Raleigh agreed.

He's also called downtown Raleigh "unlivable" due to the bars, etc. on Fayetteville St. even though he himself owns several including Raleigh Times but he is somehow different because he has an off duty police officer there on weekends. Due to downtown being so "unlivable" poor Greg had to move his family to Historic Oakwood. My heart goes out to them for such a tragic loss.

I'll give him credit for helping to develop downtown Raleigh but he's pretty hypocritical for bitching about it now that it's thriving. You reap what you sow.

i'm fine with some restrictions on it or holding owners more accountable (go walk by coglins on sunday morning), but his Raleigh Times is a lot worse than most other places and it wouldn't even be impacted

Also the cops are assholes in downtown district about open containers, you can literally get charged with a criminal offense for stepping outside of a bar to smoke a cig near the door.

This is just another way for them to get ticket/fine revenue for an "offense" that harms no one.
