How many of us are/were friends with people who went on to be famous somehow? Not talking about famous people we met. Just people you knew Before They Were Stars (on VH1).

I worked in Washington, DC with Arthur Chu before he went on to break Jeopardy! and become a columnist for The Daily Beast among others. We probably hung out at least once a week outside work in 2012, usually at Buffalo Billiards.

Who's the guy on here who knew/knows RobMcElhenny?

I wasn't friends with him, but I graduated from Garner with David West who went on to become a star player in the NBA.

I'm pretty sure there are some other people on here who know Jill Wagner.

I don't know him, but about a week after I quit at Lowes Foods, Scotty McCreery was hired there. I guess he took my job.

I'm friends with the drummer for Foster the People.

Saw a Fruit of the Loom commercial back in maybe 2007, the ones where the guys dressed as fruit walk around singing. I LOVED the lead singers voice so I looked it up and found out he was in a band, Malbec. I "friended" them on MySpace and fell in love with their music (specifically: "Solstice". Look it up) We (me and various band members) started messaging back and forth and became e-friends. I met up with them at one of their shows in Detroit or something and started an IRL friendship. Ended up becoming good friends with Mark, their drummer, and stayed in touch after he left them and eventually joined FTP. He has a long-time gf now so we don't talk much anymore. But it's always fun to hear him on the radio

a friend of mine is a famous YouTuber. Maybe famous isn't the right word, but he has several extremely popular YouTube pages.

Another friend, more an acquaintance these days, was one of the founding writers of Clickhole and just got a job on the writing staff for Stephen Colbert's new show. I suspect things are on the rise for him.

UFC fighter Derek Brunson went to the same high school and would hang out in the same circles.

One of my best friends' little sister, who we used to pick on back in the day but of course is gorgeous now, is an aspiring actress in California, I believe she has a dancing part in Ted 2

My uncle was college roommates with Drew Carey

meh, thats about it

I have a younger cousin that danced on tour with Paula Abdul years ago.

I tutored and played pick-up with Chris Wilcox for several years in high school. (played in the NBA for a bit)

I fucked a former local news anchor who now works for the Travel Channel.

I know all the people on Southern Charm pretty well...but they're all horrible douchebags, so that's probably a negative.

That's all I got. It's pretty weak.

I wouldn't really call either of these folks famous but its all I got:

I went on a few dates with Comicbookgirl19 back in 2009. She's got a fairly popular channel on YouTube. I still talk with her every now and then on FB.

My ex-girlfriend has been on some TV shows on the Discovery/Science Channel. None of the really well known/popular shows though. "The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius" back in 2013 and she's currently a regular cast member on this show "Outrageous Acts of Science".

My dad's cousin was a producer for David Letterman (and the Rosie O'donnell show ) and a few others.

I went to middle through high school & graduated with these people:
Colin Fickes: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0275690/ (he now owns Humdinger juice)
Aubrey Dollar: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0231122/?ref_=nv_sr_5
Was never best buds with either of them but knew them (and are facebook friends! does that count?)

Not very famous but,

One of my Fraternity Brothers was the first person to cross the US on an electric motorcycle. He's done other cool stuff too. At one point he was in talks with Discover Channel about doing a show.

Here is his Wiki page "Electric Terry": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Hershner

He lived in the same room in the house as I did before I moved in. He put a freaking car in there and used it as a desk.

This is another brother in this pic with his car. That guy is noW a Doctor and operated on Schwarzenegger's arm back when he was the Govenator

I went to high school with Denzel Washington's niece. I also went to church with Ned Jarrett and played soccer against Dale Jarrett's daughter. I also know Paul McDonald, the guy that was on American Idol and married one of the vampires from Twilight, but they got divorced.

None of these people I was actually friends with, but they know who I am. I do have friends that were really good friends with Dale Jarrett's daughter and would hang out at their house all the time.

Also, I've hung out on the Pinwheel with Tyler a couple of times. He's friends with my ex.

I sold Cliffy B his dog. I mentioned that once before on here and everybody acted like I was massively creepy for remembering/saying as much, but I never really understood why. I only knew who he was because he was in the store all the time because he was dating a coworker. From my perspective he wasn't really "famous" until some months later, when another coworker told me to turn on MTV because they were doing a special about him.

I sat behind Jo Armeniox in anatomy class in high school and talked to her a fair amount. She's gone on to be a model/actress and appeared/showed her boobs on "Boardwalk Empire" a year or two back. For years I would have said she was hands-down the most attractive woman I'd ever met in person. Can I go ahead and save us all some time here? You don't need to look her up, post a picture, and say "she ain't shit." We can all just imagine you doing it and move on with our lives.

let's see.

My parents knew Tommy Hilfiger (I think my dad wrestled with his brother or something and that's how he met him? I don't know, I don't care about TH so I forget) because they're from Elmira, NY (not a big place) and around the same age.

Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair were my wrestling coaches from around 7 years old to 13 years old at a couple didn't AAU clubs I wrestled for.

I knew Blake Richardson in college since he went to State while I was there. He was the drummer for Glass Casket at the time and we used to play with them some around NC too. He's been with Between the Buried and Me for the past 10 years now. /famousalum

I have a bunch of friends who are well-known locally or within their fields (executive director of Raleigh Little Theatre, couple of professional musicians, a girl who moved to NYC to act on Broadway for a few years, NC lobbyist; another is a successful venture capitalist and founded his own hedge fund. He got 2 undergraduate engineering degrees, an MBA, MD, and Ph.D in biomedical engineering all by his mid-20s, hahaha, from Stanford and Duke). I also played baseball with Gary Gaetti's son. He and a few others went on to play minor league ball, but I don't think any of them made it past AA or AAA. Oh, and Ihatespida was on Elimidate, hahaha.

The closest thing I have to someone that I'd call a friend who is actually "famous" is here:

We went to HS together. Not super close or anything, but kinda ran in the same circle of friends. I talk to her on FB every once in a while, and I actually ran into her in Baghdad of all places about 5 years ago.
