I've heard it is really fun. I have about 15 unplayed games on my bookshelf/Steam though so I'll get to it whenever Steam has a good deal on it. I do like that you can play on the same servers regardless of PC or console.

The key is going through the tutorials. The Aerial Tutorial especially helped me take my game to the next level.

Also learning how to use ball cam most of the time, and changing camera settings to farther back from car so you can see more of the field at once.

Its fun, and I enjoy it.
However, the fact that every user on the PS4 has to play with a Playstation account or join as a Guest account with nothing unlocked even in split screen mode is complete and utter garbage. The original "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars" game did not impose such a restriction. And not being able to play online in split-screen mode with said Guest accounts at all? That's a non-starter as an online party-game IMO.

You're not thinking this through.

It's a game designed for 3-on-3 play. You're not getting six people in split-screen. There's no incentive to program even 2-on-2 split, because the vast majority of people don't even own four controllers, let alone have four people interested in playing four-player split. And 1-on-1 split is even less feasible. Who is playing that? Nobody is playing that.

So how about split for online play? Okay, but online play for the PS4 requires a PSN account, so we're back to the account sign-in being reasonable for the game.

"Complete and utter garbage," by the way, being a complaint about not getting niche game modes on a game you presumably got for free? Fuck outta here with that.

i found moving camera back for wider view, while increasing camera speed to be key in this game.

also, getting used to hold ball cam.

You and I have completely different groups of friends. I have played Rocket League (and "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars" for that matter) with 3 different groups of friends. All 3 groups play 2v2 split screen on 50-60"+ TVs (plenty of real-estate). This is a party game and should be played with tons of people in the same room. The idea of playing it in a room alone just makes me feel . . . sad.

After playing some 2v2 split-screen, we wanted to play online 4v4. We were all configured to play local mode, so going online should have just been as simple as switching modes. This is common in video games today where you just need one account to get online and everyone else shows as duplicates. I cannot help but think this is a stupid Sony marketing decision to try to get more adoption for the PSN.

Just got this on Steam last weekend for Valentine's Day. Using my Gamecube controller. Tis fun, but as with any n00bs, I'm no good. Since I am usually put into games with other n00bs, the game usually amount to people just hurtling themselves at the ball trying to push it one direction. I have tried the tutorials but man I'm awful. There is one on the semi-pro tutorial for aerials where the ball shoots out of the cannon and you have to fly up to knock it directly into the goal. I tried over and over again for about an hour before I gave up. I rarely have enough boost to fly in-game anyway.

I actually haven't seen anyone flying really. I'm up to "semi-pro" status now (not that it really means anything) meaning I have been in matches with a few more advanced players but still haven't seen anyone flying to get the ball. Usually I'm the only one even driving high up the wall to try and get to the ball when it is bouncing.

^lol I play a season game here and there. Still only playing Rookie but it is way too easy. At the beginning of the match I just use my boost to hit the ball first. It goes over the opposing teams cars and heads straight for the goal. Most games end like 8-2. I'm sure the higher difficulties aren't so easy but it's pretty funny.

I can't get past the blue star rank in this shit. I'm convinced that 3v3 is the only game mode that is balanced since there are 0 garbage goals... but challenger - rising star has a huge variance in skill so if you don't have a set team it is just rolling dice.
