I think what they're trying to say is diet AND exercise helps you lose weight...not diet OR exercise. But we all already knew this. 8/10/2015 12:50:53 PM

Changing your diet without exercising can definitely help you lose weight-- it's probably the biggest factor in weight gain/loss. 8/10/2015 12:52:36 PM

^^yeah, both are important, but diet is far more crucial to losing weight than exercise.
As the old saying goes, Fitness happens in the gym, weight loss happens in the kitchen.

Losing weight is 80-90% diet.
And while nearly all people can lose weight changing their diet (quality and quantity) but not exercising, the other way around it is the complete opposite. Exercising but not changing your diet mostly doesn't help lose weight, and that has been shown by studies.
IOW, as I said in another thread, aside from terrorists and killers, those 'scientists' are the worst humans on the planet. They have sold themselves to the devil for some money. 8/10/2015 2:26:53 PM

It wouldn't surprise me if some fat people drank that much soda, I've seen them go through the checkouts at the grocery store. 8/10/2015 9:16:27 PM

Every time I stop drinking soda, I lose at least 10 lbs.
Whenever I start drinking them again, I gain it back. Nope. Doesn't cause obesity.
I've only had probably a total of 10 sodas since January though, so I think I'm doing pretty well. 8/11/2015 12:53:12 PM

Soda doesn't cause obesity, too many calories causes obesity. That said, non-diet sodas are high calorie with little to no feeling of fullness from said calories so they make it easier to over consume. If you take a person who doesn't gain or lose weight on a 2000 calorie diet and substitute 200 calories from carbs with 200 calories from soda there will be zero change in body weight. Why? Because soda isn't magical, it's just a source of sugar. 8/11/2015 8:45:40 PM

Dudes openly talking about weight and diet is the one thing I don't like about the Internet.
I know y'all do it, but man, y'all need to keep this kind of thing private.
Wake up, do your push-ups, and don't be a bitch for sweets.
I get that some folks have a bit of an issue, but random men chiming in about their diets and weight...I can barely stand my lady friends and I on that shit. 8/11/2015 9:05:01 PM

that's not how the human brain works. people who drink soda don't replace 200 calories of solid food elsewhere, they have it in addition to all the calories their bodies need.
so yeah, soda causes obesity. 8/11/2015 10:26:08 PM

Calories contribute to obesity.
Chronic overconsumption of calories causes obesity.
There is nothing unique to soda that causes obesity more than an equal serving of orange juice for example. Both are not satiating and high in calories. People just like to find something to blame other than their own choices and self control. 8/12/2015 10:21:27 AM

GG, Mexico. FU, Coke.
http://www.theguardian.com/news/2015/nov/03/obese-soda-sugar-tax-mexico
Quote : | "How one of the most obese countries on earth took on the soda giants
As debate rages about whether to introduce a sugar tax, this is the story of how Mexico defied its own powerful fizzy drinks industry to impose a tax on soda
Mexicans love their soda. Construction workers go to their jobs in the early morning clutching giant two-litre or even three-litre bottles. Babies in strollers suck on bottles filled with orange soda. In the highlands of Chiapas, Coca-Cola is considered to have magical powers and is used in religious rites.
In fact, Mexicans drink more soda than nearly anyone else in the world; their top three daily sources of calories in 2012 were all high-calorie drinks. Mexico also has by far the world’s highest death rate from chronic diseases caused by consumption of sugary drinks – nearly triple that of the runner-up, South Africa. In other words, excessive consumption of soda kills twice as many Mexicans as trade in the other kind of coke that Mexico is famous for." |
