Completely ridiculous this guy is getting a nearly 5 million payout to leave his job amid a federal criminal investigation. You would think shareholders would demand any contract for C-Level employees to void any separation pay for related to criminal activities.
If I was being investigated for an even a non-work criminal activity; i'd be shown the door with $0 "separation pay"
Think I'll start avoiding United as I don't want to help pay this guys "Separation Package"

Looks like the only major carriers worth a damn are now Southwest & Delta.
I flew United last year and it was okay. ^ This may sway my opinion some.
I flew American probably 3 years ago. They can suck a big fat dick!!! 9/8/2015 8:40:17 PM

why is it against the rules for the CEO of an airline to make a new airline route, why does the government care about that? 9/9/2015 8:58:50 AM

I'm sure the people in Newark and SC appreciated the new route.

The route wasn't for the CEO:
Quote : | "The federal probe connected to the ousters of the executives is an outgrowth of the Chris Christie "Bridgegate" investigation, according to U.S. law enforcement officials.
Both the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark, New Jersey, have been investigating David Samson, the former chairman of the Port Authority.
Among the allegations being investigated are that Samson used his position to get United to start a flight from Newark to South Carolina -- which was convenient to a home he owned.
United allegedly agreed to the request to curry favor with Samson and the Port Authority.
The Port Authority, an agency of New York and New Jersey, operates major public transportation routes in the two states including Newark Airport, a United hub.
Samson, an ally of Christie, stepped down from the Port Authority in March 2014 amid fallout over Bridgegate." |

Yeah I don't really see either how the plane route thing is such a big deal.
BTW you'd think as CEO he'd use the private company jet to fly for vacation. 9/9/2015 8:08:17 PM

How do you guys not have an issue with the guy who essentially runs Newark airport getting special treatment from an airline CEO? The chairman of the port authority was in the United jet. Not a CEO.
Also HUR having an issue with corporate CEO payment makes me chuckle. You're a boner and arnt understand what is going on.

^^ The issue is that the new plane route was created in order to secure some kind of funding or better standing with a Port Authority project. It was basically a bribe to a gov't official. 9/9/2015 9:37:35 PM
