Post ITT when someone tells you what God wants, the opinions God holds, the plans that God created, etc.

Example:

Today a coworker told me that because I have been hit by a vehicle twice, that God apparently doesn't want me to be here.

Well all I have to say to that is I'm still here bitch

no, you are still here, so you are meant to be here, and you learned a lesson from the accidents

basically, you will avoid the one that kills you based upon the previous experiences

or just dumb luck youre still here, congrats

I don't even get that...if that's how you believed God actually worked, wouldn't it be that God is the reason you were fired or lost that job?

I always LOL at God impacting sporting events

My cousin has changed her preferred name from one spelling to another nickname-ish spelling to initials over the past few years. A couple days ago I saw someone bitching her out for not always using her given name because, "That was the name God gave your parents to give to you, so you should use it. I never liked Mary, but it's the name God gave my parents for me, so call me Mary."

Only time I hear anyone mention God is usually on facebook. And it's not batshit stuff, it's usually like thanking him for, sorry, thanking Him, for family and health and stuff.

^^ a coworker wrote on my FB that the reason I wasn't more seriously injured by the truck that hit me is because they had a prayer circle at work

[Edited on September 15, 2015 at 9:36 PM. Reason : ^ the sad thing is that's how I feel ]

My dad and I are fishing one weekend. We did pretty well on Saturday, both landing multiple fish in just a few hours and a few were keeping size so we got to have a decent fish dinner that night as well, overall a solid fishing day for us. On Sunday we are back on the water early, with some pretty high expectations, and we barely get any bites all morning. We start trying everything that has worked in the past but all we get is nothing.

I'm starting to get frustrated when my dad says something along the lines of "huh, I guess God wanted us in church" etc in various ways, he brings it up 3-4 times over the course of an hour. I'm in the front of the boat rolling my eyes and thinking "stfu dad" when minutes later he snags the biggest fish of the weekend, and probably the entire summer.

God forgave him when he repented, and blessed him with a large fish.

I didn't mention God, but said something along the same lines as what is being discussed ITT.

Almost a year ago now, I was taking my dog out for his nightly walk at 9:00P. I went down to the bottom floor of my 21 story apartment building, so that I could go out of the loading dock bay doors just like I always did. Except this time was different. I said to myself "Gee EMCE, when was the last time you checked on your bike locked up in the garage?!"
So I decided that instead of exiting the loading dock doors, I would walk through the garage, check out the bikes, and then exit through the side door of the garage. When I exited the garage, I heard this scream for help (well, I thought that I heard something, but wasn't sure. But the fact that my dog was barking his head off verified that indeed, something was going on). I walked towards the scream, and saw a young lady standing really close to a parked van...all alone...in the corner of the parking lot. I went over to her, and she exclaimed how happy she was that I came by....because she was trying to shut the stupid door of her mom's minivan, and when the door shut, her fingers got caught in between the sliding door and the frame. She was stuck, without a phone, or anyone within earshot for about 15 minutes...that is until I came along.
So, yeah..... I called her parents for her, and also the fire department to help her out. While we were waiting for help to arrive, I made some comment about how 'I never ever come out of the building this way. I always exit through the loading dock doors. But I guess there was a plan all along, or fate that drove me to exit through the garage this time. The girl, who I later learned was about 16 years old, must have been in pretty good spirits despite the considerable pain she was in. For she quickly replied "Yeah... I guess so. I wonder what the plan was that fate had for me to get my fingers trapped in this door?"

I chortled

She smiled, and then said "the plan was probably for me to sue Toyota"

My son is terminally ill, and I want to punch people in the face that tell me it's "god's plan" or that "god wouldn't give him to you if you couldn't handle it".

Fuck them. If God did exist, he wouldn't punish my son.

Obviously your son's story didnt garner enough 'likes' on facebook for God to alter his plan.

The idea of people believing that if you ask for prayers on the internet (or wherever), that someone has a better chance of beating cancer (or whatever) is baffling (and saddening) to me. They really think that if they get more people to pray, god may be peer-pressured into healing them?

This isn't a religion bashing thread.

It's more of a silly people bashing thread or a predestination bashing thread.
