And it seems likely I had some obstructive sleep apnea with my stuffy nose and swollen throat, and that's what disrupted my sleep. I'ma be pissed if she comes back tonight. I think I'm also gonna take some actual medicine.

I had it once. No creepy lady, but it's terrifying to realize you can't move or voluntarily breathe.

It only happens to me when I sleep on my back. Sometimes it can be pleasant, but other times, even when I'm pretty sure of what is going on, the devil glaring down at me is realistic enough to be worth struggling awake.

I've only had one episode of sleep paralysis, and that was enough for me.

When I woke up, I couldn't see any kind of hag or devil, but I was overcome by the feeling that there was something extremely malevolent in the room, holding me down. I remember thinking, "Let me up, let me up, let me up, let me up," and then I was able to get up.

Not knowing what it was until later was pretty scary.

I started having this happen a few years back. I had really, really bad vision without my contacts so often the shadows or various structures in my room (brick wall jutting out, space heater, couch, lamp, etc) would become awful murderers and villains. I was convinced that after I had LASIK these instances would go away, because I could "see" that these things weren't what I thought they were.

That turned out to not be the case. Sleep paralysis is crazy as fuck.

When I was younger, I slept with my arms resting on my chest.

One night, I woke up unable to breath until I sat up in my bed.

I never had any feelings of something in the room with me.

Unrelated (I think), I used to have a recurring nightmare of something I could never describe after I awoke. I just remember it was terrifying.

Every once in a while (up until two years ago), I would have a nightmare that I never graduated because I skipped too much of one of those every Wednesday from 6-9 pm college classes.

When I was put under for a surgery when I was a kid, my vision faded to black and I started hearing a bunch of maniacal laughing. I remember trying to thrash and scream but I couldn't. Then I awoke from the surgery.

This happens to me nearly every time I fall asleep on my back. Does not scare me though because it is nearly impossible for me to fall asleep on my back. I have to be pretty exhausted just to fall asleep that way. I usually end up staring at the ceiling until I am bored to death and have to roll to my side.

Joe gets this about once a month. Poor guy will wake up confused, sometimes panicking, and covered in sweat. It's always a strange figure hovering over him, and he's totally incapable of moving. He knows he is dreaming because the figure is visually sharp, but his normal vision is not. I have never had it, but based on his description I don't think I ever want to experience it.

Sometimes in a half awake state I'll get the sensation that I'm being dragged down the bed by my feet. It was terrifying the first few times. It's not so bad now that I know I'm not being dragged into the pits of hell, but still a very odd feeling.
