^ Probably best.

I only know of places that stop by to pick up clothing. You could definitely find somebody willing to stop by and pick up any serviceable piece of furniture on craigslist, though!

Curbside isn't the best as we live in an apartment complex and we just want to get rid of a couch and recliner that aren't making the move with us to our new house.

Craigslists Free

Even the charities are a PITA to deal with now when you are giving them free stuff.

People will still pick it up from your apartment. Shoot, I offloaded a lot when I was moving (many of these items were given to wolf webbers; some to craigslist folks) and they were willing to show up and pay for my stuff. Just stick to a low price like $5-20 for most items and you'll at least have somebody visit that isn't necessarily a guaranteed psychopath.

[Edited on December 26, 2015 at 12:03 AM. Reason : And yeah sometimes charities reject free shit because they have "too much of that item".]

Salvation Army will pick up furniture in good condition. Prolly do the lifting as well.

What's the condition like?

Good condition, no pets are allowed on the furniture and they're not torn or anything. We simply just wanted new stuff.

Try TROSA Thrift Store. They are in Durham but will pick up large furniture.

I've used them as movers also. They are incredibly nice people.
