to stinger's comment, that's part of the reason I'm miserable I guess - I complained about it on here before I think, but I was with a girl (no point in going into any details - it's rather pitiful, as expected ) but it kinda didn't work out, and I haven't been able to move past that for some reason, even though it's been over a half a year now

clearly I'm not a ladies man of any sort, so when I thought I had something that was going to be lasting, I was super excited and then when it fell apart, my mental state has gradually been falling apart with it :-\ I know I'm pretty mentally fucked up to begin with, but damn.. I got really low there for a while (thankfully I'm not at that point right now)

my misery is self-imposed, so I believe I can actually do something about it

Hey man, maybe there is a silver lining here. Like, my (ex)wife for instance. We are getting separated now and finalizing everything, which considering that we have a kid together is a pretty big and unimaginable headache, but in all honesty I am glad that this is ending.

HOWEVER, if you told me this about 2 years ago or so, I would have been crushed. My wife and I have been married for nearly five years, have lived together for seven and been involved with each other for nine years now. So, she was without a doubt my best friend and the love of my life.

Then something happened in our relationship about a year and a half ago or so. I can't really explain it to you clearly, but she got a new group of friends as I became closer with my work colleagues, and we just grew apart. So, she came to me a while back to break it off and get divorced, but I convinced her to stay and fought hard for our relationship. Unfortunately, what has happened since then has been a total disaster because she clearly didn't want to be with me anymore and grew to resent me for trying to stick together. In reality it would have been best to just leave on a high note, because now we are both sick of each other and it is just sad because we also have a kid that we need to take care of.

So, think of the positive side and move on. The girl was probably doing you a favor in the long run by ending it quickly.

That's great! The main thing for me that helped was trying to involve myself more with my friends or other people, because for a while I isolated myself from the world and would mull over the things that I did that I regretted, and that is just a bad way to go. That leads to depression and drinking too much. So, I started socializing more and started hanging out with some friends because it took my mind off of it all.

I only remember really raging on about her after she threw my banjo out the window about a year and a half ago, because that's when shit between us started to get real bad.
