So like a lot of boys, when I was a little kid I thought girls and crushes and relationships were gross and stupid, and all adults said, "Yeah, well, you'll grow out of it." But unlike a lot of boys I made proving these people wrong a central facet of my life, and so I stayed on a very anti-girls, anti-relationship (and eventually anti-sex) jihad for way longer than is appropriate. Aside from the predictable results of emotional stunting and years of worse-than-usual relationship choices, a consequence of this approach was that I didn't have one of these early TV crushes, and the first woman I recall fixating on was the one in all of the Victoria's Secret catalogs that arrived at my house only to be discarded (or, after puberty began its inevitable onslaught on my half-cooked "values," stolen by me).
