I was selected to serve on a jury in Carteret County Criminal Superior court this week. I'll answer questions now if you have them. 2/26/2016 7:09:04 PM |

Just by looking at the guy, how guilty did you know he was? 2/26/2016 7:17:18 PM |

Do you really think the 5 dollars you spent for an alias was a wise investment? 2/26/2016 7:21:33 PM |

I did a rough count and figured there were about 120 that showed to the summons. Between prosecutor and defense they probably dismissed 5-8 so I figure odds of getting selected were probably 17% or so.
One poor young lady when they asked folks if they could handle seeing photos of the deceased showing his injuries claimed she was "sensitive" and broke down crying. She was dismissed.
If you get on a trial like that and you don't have to lose your weekly wages then it's a good gig. Court started at 9 or 9:30, usually had a morning and afternoon recess that lasted 15-25 minutes. Lunch recess was from 75-90 minutes and we were out of there on average no later than 4:30 each day. 2/28/2016 10:24:42 PM |
