I've always found this soveirgn citizen movement really entertaining.
I looked it up and did a bit of reading on the subject after I learned this associate from high school got sent to prison for some checking cashing fraud or something. It was a min. Security prison, I'm sure, but prison nine the less. Anyway, apparently he believed himself to be a Black Moor, soveirgn citizen in the United States. He believed in his heart that laws did not apply to him, as he was above it.

So these soveirgn citizens pop up under different banners. Some are relatively mild, like they don't believe they need to pay taxes. Some of those fuckers are sooooo nutso, man.... Like form a militia, nutso.

I had no idea this "sovereign citizen/free inhabitant" phenomenon existed... pure gold! I am going to have to research it later to understand the whatever antiquated legal basis for it.

I feel bad for the cops who have to deal with shit like that, especially the ones who stay super-calm throughout the utterly inane back-and-forths. The cop in the 3rd encounter deserves a fucking medal for bringing out some paper and reading the law to the asshole in a very educational way.
