anyway just rewatched the original (final cut) and it is as classic as I remembered it, if only they had the sense to have it take place at the end of the 21st century...not the beginning, only real mark against it

don't know much about the director, usually i'm skeptical of abandoning the original director but I haven't really liked much Ridley has done outside Blade runner anyway so I dunno

I can't be the only person that wasn't impressed with the original. I never thought much of it, but since "everyone" seems to hold it in such high regard I watched it again within the last year. My opinion didn't really change though. Oh well.

shit was pretty good. if you liked old bladerunner, i'd imagine you'll probably like this.

villaneuve is on a roll in my opinion.

Heavy on mood, light on emotion.

Pace was slow. So slow you could either make it shorter or fit more plot points in if it was sped up.

However, enjoyed it. It just didnt blow me away.

I will probably go see this if it's still in the local theater next weekend. (Only 4 screens and they cater to an older crowd so their movie selection is not "normal")

^^ That's fair, but fairly accurate for the old one too. There are definitely a few things they could have fleshed out better, but that didn't detract too much from the whole (at least for me).

Agree with those points but I still was very impressed. The original did a better job of portraying the future world too, the settings were always vibrant with lots going on in the background, this one didn’t have that.

I Don’t think Gosling was the greatest choice for lead actor too.
