2008 was interesting on the Democratic side and a pretty similar process and timeline to this year, but it didn't have the highly entertaining mess on the Republican side.

Plus, Sarah Palin was a part of the General election and not the primaries. Donald Trump was a full year of that.

I'm not torn, just equally unexcited about each of them. I haven't given Stein and Johnson enough fair attention, but I will now. I know I'm much closer aligned with the Green platform, but I want to vote for a person and not for the party.

Sanders is pretty smart, he just got too tightly associated with his hippy supporters. When I judge him by the things I see on social media on support of him, he seems like an idiot. If I watch an interview with sanders, other than his hate for free trade,he has an excellent grasp of issues and policy.

Sanders' has spent his life trying to minimize poverty which is our biggest domestic issue right now. No one else running has better credibility or perspective on that issue.

Obama at 56% approval, highest since a poll taken right after Bin Laden got got. Amazing what happens when the GOP fud machine is pointed at someone else. He should be much higher, but this at least means he has strong approval with democrats and left leaning independents. At those approval levels, he'll be a very effective campaign surrogate for Hillary.

Oh that same poll showed Hillary leading Trump 51-39, which is pretty amazing considering how low Hillary's favorables are. Trump's are just much much much worse.

The thing is you know none of this election cycle will be about policy. Anyone who jumped from Sanders to Trump only wanted to vote for an outsider from the beginning and clearly didn't care about either's policies.

Jill Stein hasn't convinced me she's worth my vote either. She and Clinton both still have a chance to do so, but if it doesn't happen then I wouldn't mind joining a group that is really just trying to send a message.
