Fam is coming into town tomorrow and I'm looking for something relatively new or interesting to go for lunch. They aren't good going out of their comfort zone food wise though so struggling. Any suggestions?

Sitti in downtown Raleigh. Any of their salmon dishes are out of this world. For lunch they aren't terribly expensive.

Yeah I like sitti, but if my dad can't get a burger there he's probably gonna turn his nose up at it.

well if it's a burger you want, check out Chucks.

[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 11:54 AM. Reason : Player's Retreat has a fantastic burger too, but may not be the best place to take out of towners]

[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 11:55 AM. Reason : oh ok so this is more about you trying something new.]

Lebanese seems slightly adventurous

i'm not sure how nice/casual you want so here is a variety:
18 Seaboard
Capital Club 16
Rockford
The Pit
Gravy
Tupelo Honey (way overrated IMO, but lots of people love it)
Relish (i think this place is awful but for some reason old people love it)

Yeah I'm waffling between Cowfish and Capital Club at the moment.

Rockford is a good suggestion but the menu is a bit limited. I'd probably do Gravy but I'm more about that when the weather isn't so damn hot. 18 Seaboard a little fancy for right now. I enjoyed my meal at Tupelo honey fine but have no need to ever go back. Never been to Relish, may check it out.

The Pit is so fucking overrated and we grew up 30 mins from Lexington. THERE IS NO GOOD BBQ EAST OF BURLINGTON! COME AT ME BROS!

I like Relish. Good southern cooking. Similarly, NoFo is always good too.

Greek restraunt Taverna Agora downtown on Hillsborough. Great food and atmosphere, downstairs and rooftop seating. And I think on Friday nights they have a live band and fire/belly dancers upstairs.

They have a greek burger, which i think just has a fancy bun and feta on it.

[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 12:14 PM. Reason : ^ I just did Relish recently, it was very good]

relish isn't bad, it's just boring un-elevated dishes in a dated atmosphere

anyone remotely "foodie" will be unimpressed by relish, but boring southern people will love it

Garland
Bida Manda
Stanbury
Fiction Kitchen
Poole's
CC16

Everything else is a step down...plenty of other good places, but those six are where you'll get crazy goodness.

wait the farmer market restaurant is bad? i've been many times and thought it was fine. maybe over-crowded at certain times, but the food was always good when i went.

i guess i have low standards.

^^ yeah it was good BACK IN MAH day but they've been phoning it in for years. i'm convinced their potatoes are powdered. Chicken (fried and BBQ) is always dry and overcooked. Most of it tastes like it's out of a can delivered by a Sysco truck.

[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 12:34 PM. Reason : for similar cuisine cooked right head to Jack's Seafood & Soul Food]

Who has a better burger than chucks? Asking because the spirit animal (poblanos and cream cheese) is the best burger I've ever had. I'm down to try wherever if that's overrated

J Betski's has a really good burger, and you can get some not-a-burger stuff as well if you want. German stuff.

Back in the back of Seaboard.

Mojo's if all anyone wants is a burger.

Just take them to Capital Club 16 and be done with it. That place is delicious.

^^^The Spirit Animal is my jam...I've tried all of the burgers there and that's easily my favorite

Hot point near Cary crossroads is a super lunch spot. Their sandwiches are delicious and they bake their own bread. The pizzas are insanely good. Same deal, fresh dough made in-house. Divine.

man sammy's really is not good at all. also, they used to have signs advertising "half price wings everyday". which is just regular price wings. if you have the discount every single day, then that is just the regular, full price.

Man it's too bad that average at best Fuddruckers wanna-be burger place on Glenwood closed. What was that place called? Sounds perfect for this.

their wings can be ok, but most of the rest of the food, especially burgers and sandwiches, is complete shit.
