I'm working on a project with some high schoolers and we want to make an audible beeeeep sound and have 3v (2 AA in series)m power supply. What do I need to get that will make this sound. I want to keep as single as possible.

by just a push button or constant sound? Do you want to minimize use of pre-built integrated circuits (chips) or just try to use basic circuit components?

Is this something you want to just build on a breadboard or do you intend to solder?

a circuit like this would do the trick:

A volume knob (which is the tone control), 2 transistors, and a speaker.

just get a little piezoelectric audio device. they cost pennies.
