Here's the real problem:

News meteorologists don't just say stuff like: based on the data and models it looks like we might get snow, maybe nothing maybe up to 10 inches. Instead they have to show you all the fronts and pressure systems, all the jet streams and upper/lower level disturbances, and so on. Then at the end of all that finally say this or that. In this case, as I recall, indicated that we would get four inches (very conservative) to 12 inches.

If someone asks me something at work and give the 15 minutes of backstory and an opinion and I'm still (mostly) wrong I would fully expect some negative feedback.

Meterologists are only as good as their models. Certainly there are some you can trust better than others, but when the model consensus points one way, you tend to follow it and report on it. And models are still not as good as we'd like them to be. It is what it is.

^^^That posting is for Nate Johnson. He did weekend weather and basically ran the meteorology department at WRAL. He, like Monica Laliberte, contributed much more behind the scenes but sometimes both are in front of the camera. But that is what they are replacing, not Greg.

O'Fishel sighting confirmed. Just had a Greg Fishel sighting in Raleigh. Saw him walking to his car and he had his foot in a medical boot. So looks like it was some sort of foot surgery, which would keep a meteorologist from standing in front of the green screen.
