With that optical thing can you control volume with the TV remote? Does it power on off with the TV? 2/10/2017 2:03:00 PM |

You can't control the volume with the TV remote (at least not that I'm aware of). It's IR, so I'm sure some universal remote like a Logitech can be set up to control it too.
It does power on with the TV and goes to sleep when the TV turns off (don't remember how long till it times out)

LG has a feature that allows LG TVs to control LG sound bars connected via a TOSLINK cable (LG Sound Sync, which is confusingly also the name used to market the wireless surround sound and subwoofers they sell). Both my LG OLED TV and the LG soundbar I have supposedly support it but I couldn't get the damn thing to work as advertised.
On the plus side my LG TV has a built in IR blaster for controlling other devices and I was able to get that to work even though the manual for the sound bar specifically says it is not supported.
FWIW, the LAP340 is advertised as Sound Sync compatible. 3/13/2017 1:29:02 PM |

SOLD!
Yeah, I was aware. Neat feature if you can get it to work. My LG TV is older, so doesn't have the feature built in. 3/13/2017 2:56:35 PM |
