I'm from Goldsboro. Everyone from there knows about this, it seems to randomly pop up in the news fairly often.
It made wide-spread national news not too long ago again because an old document was released showing how close it came to exploding.

It didn't come close to exploding. I'm pretty sure there was a whole thread a few years ago discussing that.
