Would white people enjoy this show?

That's probably a stupid question...because I grew up watching The Cosby Show, Family Matters, Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, Sister Sister, Martin, Fresh Prince, A Different World, etc. But I rarely watch any sitcoms at all these days (watched Modern Family and Mindy Project off and on for a few years)...and just wonder if I would enjoy this as a middle-aged white man. As a kid, I think I wanted to be black and loved the aforementioned shows. Now I'm content in my white-bread world...and I'm kind of "meh" on Anthony Anderson.

I just assumed it was a show about racist black people.

This show somewhat changed my opinion on Anthony Anderson. It is quite good. That whole block of Goldbergs + Modern Family + Blackish is swell.

Fresh off the Boat is also good.

^^its about a black family that has a lot of money and live in a wealthy neighborhood and work at jobs with mostly white people. The dad feels insecure like he's not black enough so he overcompensates in hilarious ways.

It does get better as you continue learn more about the characters and see them expand beyond initial archetypes. Anthony Anderson grew on me quickly, and I never imagined that was possible.

Generally, it's a very sharp show--nuanced, insightful, honest, and funny. I'd definitely recommend watching a few more episodes after the pilot since it is a lot more than that episode's basic premise.

But I wouldn't recommend binge watching back episodes in a few sittings. It's not really that kind of show.

I don't enjoy modern family at all. But the Goldbergs and blackish are great.
