I feel like the majority of these "emotional support animals" are BS. If you are 100% mobile, and you can't go to the grocery store without your dog, then perhaps you need other means of help. Planes? Sure I could see it since planes make a lot of people really nervous, but come on, you don't need to take your damned dog to Lowes. 7/28/2018 1:48:10 PM |

I'm a HUGE dog lover.... I wish I could take my dogs (GSD and a Pit mix) everywhere. However, I understand that other people have different opinions, and perhaps you don't want dog hair on everything in your office supply store (or where you buy your food).
When I went on deployment, my wife got them both certified as "emotional support" dogs; and it felt so WRONG! I told her emotional support dogs are for people with PTSD, or serious social anxiety... not so you can make someone allow you to have your dog with you.
The vast majority of these are 100% BS. It wasn't a huge deal when it was one or two emotional support dogs, but the first time a kid gets nipped by one of these in an airplane the government is going to crack down on the certification. FFS people, don't strap a vest on your four-legged friend just so other people have to accept your dog. Socialize your animal, and people won't be a big stimulus; so you can take them places where a dog is border-line acceptable... like the hardware store, not the grocery store. 7/28/2018 8:42:07 PM |

I was never a big fan of dogs in Lowes. I love dogs, I have two beagles and since I work from home, they are my wingmen during the day. However there are some people out there with real phobias of dogs. They shouldn't have to worry about being around them in a hardware store, just because you don't want to leave your dog at home.
Want to take your dog to a store? Take them to PetSmart or PetCo, where people who don't like animals are sure to steer clear.
FFS I saw a couple carting their toy poodle around in a stroller at Walmart the other day, where they sell groceries. 7/28/2018 10:43:14 PM |
